Telling Time

• 4 steps1. Es la/ Son las2. Hour3. Minutes4. Time of day

• Es la– If the time is between 12:31 and 1:30

• Son las– If it is any other time

2. Hour

• If it is on the hour– Use the number for the current hour– Example: 3:00 -> Tres

• If it is before the half hour– Use the number for the current hour– Example: 7:15 -> Siete

• If it is after the half hour– Round up and use the number for the next hour– Example: 4:45 -> Cinco

3. Minutes

• If it is on the hour– Add “en punto”

• If it is before the half hour– Add “y + number of minutes”

• If it is after the half hour– Add “menos + the number of minutes until the

next hour starts”

4. Time of day

• Add one of the following phrases depending on the time of day:– De la mañana: In the morning– De la tarde: In the afternoon– De la noche: In the evening/ at night

• 2 x 7 = 14

• 5 x 6 = 30

• 20 / 5 = 4

Silent Ball Review Game• Everyone will be sitting on top of their desks.• I will start by asking a question.• The person who knows the answer will raise

their hand and answer it. If they answer correctly the ball gets passed.

• The ball must get passed at least 3 times. The person who ends up with the ball is out… UNLESS they can answer a question correctly.

• If you are out you must sit in your chair.• The last person sitting on their desk is the

winner.
