Future Trends?• From now until 2018 23.4% of the worlds workforce will

change jobs• That’s 192 million people will be in different roles in just over

Gender is tough at the top!11.3 million males reside in Australia

(49.8%)

Only 14% of CEO’s in Australia are female

Comparison with the UK• AT Kearney predict the “rise of the female buyer” but a SCM World study states that just 7% of supply chain

leadership roles are held by women

• Women account for 20.4% of FTSE100 boards

• MARS lead the way with 2 of the 4 divisional supply chain VPs being female and leading discussions around the possibility of career gaps to enable family provision

Female Executive Sentiment:

• 2/3 said opportunities for women had not improved

• 80% said it would take 20 years before women fill 30% of board seats

Changes for the better• Energy Australia, BP and Westpac are just 3 companies

encouraging a gender balanced shortlist of candidates for all roles

• As a general statement; across all industries the percentage of women holding management positions is on the increase

• Female board level appointments in the UK have grown more than 40% in the last year

• Female graduates in procurement slightly outnumber their male counterparts already

• The number of females progressing into management has largely increase year on year for some time with varying levels of growth per annum

• AT Kearney “still” predict the Rise of the Female Buyer

• Recently the average Australian procurement salary passed $175,000

• Companies have a recognised drive to see more females employed within a leadership function

• The massive disparity of males vs females holding the top job in procurement (and business in general) however is still concerning

• So; we need to take the graduate figure and translate that into leadership…
