Promotion Policy

10th Grade

•Students must have 6.0 total credits to be promoted to 10 th grade.

11th Grade

•Students must have 12.0 total credits to be promoted to 11 th grade.

How Many Pre-AP Classes To Take?

• Individual decision

• Consider extra-curricular commitments

• Impacts class rank

• Seek balance while challenging yourself

Benefits of Taking Pre-AP Courses

• Great preparation for AP/DC classes

• Rigorous courses in high school better prepares

students for college courses

• Grades are weighted 1.15 (1.29 for AP!)

• Colleges look for rigorous coursework

RANK IN CLASS

• Required graduation courses, up to a maximum of 26 credits, taken in grades 9 to 12 through the end of the 7th semester will be used to calculate class rank.

• Elective courses that produce the highest weighted grade will be used to calculate rank.

• Class rank will be based upon a weighted grade average

Weighted Grade Averages

• WGPA are determined by multiplying each semester grade of a ranked course by a rank factor and computing an average.

Course Level

• AP, GT/AP, and Dual Credit AP – 1.29

• Pre AP, Honors, Dual Credit non-AP – 1.15

• Regular -1.0

• The WGA determines rank in class.

HONOR GRADUATES

•Students achieving high standards of academic excellence shall be recognized at the graduation ceremony as honor graduates based on the following criteria:

•Completion of the Foundations High School Program with an Endorsement and/or the Distinguished Level of Achievement

•Everything completed through the end of the 1st semester of your senior year.

•Overall Weighted grade average of a 90 or above

HONOR GRADUATE DESIGNATIONS

•Summa Cum Laude – 100+

•Magna Cum Laude – 95 -99

•Cum Laude – 90 -94

COLLEGE CREDIT OPPORTUNITIES

• Take AP classes and AP tests at the end of the year to earn college credit

• Take dual credit classes (watch for details beginning December 2015 and need to apply by early spring for next school year)

Building a High School Resume

Resume Tips

• Make it easy to read

• Use a chronological format

• List school related and non school related activities and leadership positions

• Include awards, honors, GPA, class rank, SAT/ACT scores

• Brag about yourself!

Social Studies:1- World History OR World Geography2 - US History EOC3 - Government (1 sem) 4 - Economics (1 sem)

If a student takes a “traditional” route like...9th World Geography10th World History 11th US History12th Government / Economics

Students will develop a foundation for the US History EOC.They will get an additional endorsement for Humanities.
