What’s In Your Bag?November 15, 2018

Gregory Schaefer, Autoclear LLC

I’m a little nervous…

Kind of like waiting in line to get on the old wooden rollercoaster….

But then, you get on and everything is fine!

Should I really be doing this?

What’s In Your Bag?Using X-ray scanners to:• Execute more effective searches

• Enhance the “deterrent factor”

• Increase throughput into your venue

Presentation is difficult for me

• Normally, I can ask questions before presenting• I can determine what is important to you• I can develop a presentation that addresses your concerns• This presentation is based on my pre-conceived notions• If I did not address your concerns, please contact me for a personal

conversation• 847-815-8131 Mobile

What We Will Cover Today

• What I learned about IAAPA Venues• The screening process• Why you will see increased throughput at your entry gates• Why you will perform more effective searches• What is not allowed in parks• Going live

• Volunteers• Everyone can test themselves

• Q&A

What I learned about IAAPA Venues

• How you are just like everyone else- You have a concern about safety in your facility- You do not want to inconvenience visitors- You do not know if X-ray Security is right for you

• How you are different than everyone else- Your park is a fun place to go- Throughput is a major issue- Item recognition should be the major focus of your training- Your list of un-allowed items is substantially different- There is a good chance you will be outdoors

The Screening Process

• There are only two rules for your personnel:

2. If you can’t be sure there are no threats present, you must do a hand search

1. You don’t have to identify everything in the bag; you just have to be sure there are no threats present

• Why you will see increased throughput:

- Bags are classified into three categories:

The Screening Process

#1

NO THREAT

#2

OBVIOUS THREAT

#3

POSSIBLE THREAT

The Screening Process – increased throughput using an X-ray#1

NO THREAT:No bag search, so guest enters quickly

The Screening Process -increased throughput using an X-ray

#2OBVIOUS THREAT:

Immediate hand search, follow procedure and remove from screening lane

The Screening Process -increased throughput using an X-ray#3

POSSIBLE THREAT:Resolve the issue, either by manipulating the image or doing a hand search
