The Government
What ownership are businesses under when they are run or controlled by the Government?
What can I do?
What am I learning today?Understand Public ownership and its differenceto private ownership
All- identify the difference
Most -Can do the above and explain the difference in detail giving the main role the state play
Some - Can do all of the above and explain in detail the role of the state in public ownership giving examples and real istic explanations
Some business are under public ownership and controlled by the state
Run by the state on behalf of others
A business can also be controlled by trustees, who oversee, the business affairs.
e.g Parks
Some Businesses are owned or controlled by the state!!
THEY ARE UNDER PUBLIC OWNERSHIP
1. Government departments
2. Local Authorities
3. Health Trusts
4. Public Corporations
The role the Government playsIt is called PUBLIC OWNERSHIP because it is us ‘THE PUBLIC’ that help the Government fund Government departments or organisations such as the department of transport, refuse collection and health care!!!
So how does the PUBLIC do that?
WE PAY TAX e.g road tax, income tax
All the tax we pay goes to the Government and they keep it in a pot and then use our tax, so our money to fund organisations such as hospitals and refuse collection so that we get that service at it’s best.
YOU HAVE 5 MINUTES TO RESEARCH 5
DIFFERENT PUBLICLY OWNED BUSINESSES THAT WE HAVE NOT
ALREADY TALKED ABOUT AND WRITE
THEM ON YOUR SHEET!
