Case Study

Data Magic Computer Services Inc., an IT consulting firm in Coppell, Texas, uses the TeleNav Track app to speed up the process of sending out invoices.

Before, employees would manually fill out a work order and bring it back to the office to be processed. But field technicians don't visit the office every day, so it would take up to a week to get the paperwork out to the customer, says Shane Kimbrel, vice president at Data Magic.

The company made the switch to TeleNav in 2008. Now, the field worker can pull up the program, fill out the order and immediately show it to the customer for approval. The information is sent back to the office, and the company can send out a physical invoice the same day.

The app, from TeleNav Inc. of Sunnyvale, Calif., also uses the GPS capabilities of the phone to allow headquarters to track employees. Mr. Kimbrel says he uses the feature to assign technicians to the job sites closest to them—which lets them each handle two more cases a day.

"I'm 30% more efficient with my current staff," he says.
