History Settled by German farmers dating back

to the mid 19th century. Population grew, thanks to Chicago's

rapid transit line (removed in 1951). Eisenhower Interstate System led to

construction of two nearby expressways

Today Nearly all open land within Westchester

is currently being occupied. Wolf Road Prairie (85-acre), located at

the intersection of Wolf and 31st, is currently the largest black-soil prairie east of the Mississippi River
