Events Overview
The Westown Association partners with the Shamrock Club of Wisconsin each March to bring Wisconsin’s largest and oldest St. Patrick’s celebration to the streets of Downtown Milwaukee- attracting up to 50,000 spectators each year. This annual celebration of Irish culture features over 100 unique units including bagpipers, Irish dancers, floats from businesses and community groups, marching bands and local dignitaries. The mile and half parade route steps off on West Wisconsin Avenue at Old World Third Street and winds its way through both the Old World Third Street and Water Street entertainment districts ending on Water Street at Highland.
The Westown Farmers’ Market located in Zeidler Union Square is downtown Milwaukee’s oldest and largest open air market. Each Wednesday during the 22-week season, the event features over 50 vendors selling Wisconsin-grown produce, locally crafted art, prepared food and lunch items from area restaurants. From 10am until 2pm, the Westown Farmers’ Market has become the premiere destination for downtown professionals, residents, families and more. Those attending the market are entertained by live music and special events scheduled throughout the season.
