The Nurse Aide- Health & Wellness Pathway will give students an opportunity to cultivate a healthcare worker mindset and develop the essential nurse aide skills. Students will engage in a collaborative, engaging and fun learning environment. With a focus on the history of nursing, essential nursing aide skills, law/ethical in healthcare, and the various healthcare settings. Hands-on learning and are taught in an industry standard simulated lab.

**Active participation is a large component of this class and required to
pass.
A background check and a urine drug screen will be required as it is a
State requirement and for the clinical learning experiences.

Course(s): Certificate Nurse Aide Training Program
Areas of
Study: Role of the nurse aide, nursing and multi-disciplinary team, managing resident/patient care, care services, leadership, law/ ethics, time management, team building and communications.
Purpose: Prepare students for their career choice of post - secondary options: entry level job in nursing, attend university/college, apply to nursing school, join military, etc.
Certification(s) Overview
● After successful completion of the course and clinical learning experience, students can sit for the Colorado CNA exam
● Pass the 16 hours of clinical learning experience- REAL PATIENTS/ HANDS ON or SIMULATED
● Complete the Clinical skills checklist● Competent and knowledge of the Scope of Practice for CNA● State Exam Fee: $135.00
Certification is required by law to work as a C.N.A in any healthcare setting and cost is an additional fee to the student, which is an excellent investment into their nursing career.

Required to observe the industry standard of:● Clean and neat uniform● Hair neat and/or pulled back, off shoulders● No false nails, no longer than ¼ of an inch from the nail bed● Natural hair color● Closed toed and comfortable shoes● NO perfume/cologne● Safe or no jewelry

CHERRY CREEK INNOVATION CAMPUS: HEALTH AND WELLNESS C.N.A TRAINING PROGRAM
Mission: HOSA prepares emerging healthcare professionals for careers in the healthcare industry in high schools and colleges from around the globe.
Fees:Each semester students have the option of joining HOSA and the cost is $20.00. HOSA efforts, other curriculum related activities and resources are integrated into the courses. Membership and access to competition materials are included in the fee.
Conferences are an additional fee.

Conferences (these may be virtual): HOSA offers several events at both the state and national level. Events such as physical therapy skills, health science events, Teamwork events such as HOSA Bowl (To stimulate and motivate HOSA members to participate in teams and to test their knowledge on various topics and situations in health, HOSA, and parliamentary procedure). www.hosa.org

In the event that you are unable to attend classes due to illness, appointments etc. Please call both your home high school and the CCIC to be excused for your absence.
Due to the limited amount of time we will be in the physical classroom, please make arrangements to attend the virtual office hours hel each Monday between 12-2 to get further clarification on assignments and instruction missed due to the absence.
