Vermont's Core Strength:

Resources and Models for Workforce Education and Training

Thursday, December 14 | Capitol Plaza Hotel, Montpelier

The event is expected to run from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and will focus on one of the

greatest challenges for employers in Vermont -- addressing the education and training necessary to keep Vermont's workforce productive and competitive.

The agenda will include:

Luncheon address and Q&A with Governor Phil Scott on his administration's priorities

for strengthening Vermont's economy heading into the new year and legislative ses-sion.

Presentations on the following resources and programs:

Certified Production Technician programs, featuring the services provided by Com-

munity College of Vermont and highlighting the experiences of GE Aviation and Ha-

zelett Corporation.

Manufacturing Technician Apprentice programs, featuring the services provided by

Vermont Tech and highlighting the different programs at GE Aviation, GW Plastics, and GS Precision.

The Vermont Training Program, featuring the support provided by the Department

of Economic Development and highlighting the experiences of North Hartland Tool, Ka-

low Technologies, and Trow and Holden.

The event should be of interest and value to any Vermont organization, whether you

are facing education and training needs yourself, providing education and training ser-vices, or providing other employer services that would be of interest to your fellow at-

tendees. Although the primary focus of the featured programs will be manufacturing, the Vermont Training Program is available to several different sectors, and the techni-

cian and apprentice programs can provide lessons and ideas for education and training initiatives in many sectors beyond manufacturing.

Members and non-members are welcome to register online by going to the “Events”

link at www.aivt.org. Registration is required by December 12. Contact us at (802) 223-3441 or info@aivt.org for more information.

Are you a business leader interested in hiring Vermonters seeking a second chance?

Join Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility and Vermont Interfaith Action for an interactive and in-formative workshop and forum that brings together local business leaders, formerly incarcerated Vermonters,

and the Department of Corrections.

What resources are available to businesses looking to hire ex-offenders? How can Vermont find more work opportunities for people with criminal histories? These and other questions will be answered at the workshop

and forum.

This is a follow-up to last year's successful forum that featured ex-offenders and business owners sharing their stories.
