Editing-The MagicWhat to do when the shooting is done

Before the Edit

• Don’t rush the edit• Be organized• Keep track and log what you are doing• Finalize production

Getting organized

• Know what you are working with• Label your tapes, video files, etc.• Review script• Gather photos, logos, and assets• Communication is key, be sure to convey ideas back

and forth with your editor

Finalize

• Almost ready for Post• Script should include all audio and visuals• When appropriate, write all corresponding timecode

with takes, sound, shots• Paper edit• Script should be approved before editing begins

Almost the end

• Audio should be mixed and/or sweetened• Color needs to be corrected• Graphics, lower thirds, motion graphics, FX• Rendered• Review copy before posting live
