From the Bridge Coordinator’s desk The April Sectional Tournament was a big success
with 192.5 tables played over the weekend of April
24 -26. Many thanks to Dell Hatten, Ellen Gelberg,
Arnie Summers, Karen Adelman, Carol Branand,
Marilyn Cance, Barbara Lowry, and
Maureen O’Brien. These wonderful volunteers
further enhanced our Club’s reputation as having
the best hospitality on the Treasure Coast! Future
Sectionals include October 9-11, 2015 and
December 11-13, 2015.
Lyn Giuffrida is leaving her position as Education
Coordinator. Lyn has been serving the VBBC for
years as a volunteer, a teacher, a mentor and
most recently as head of all of our educational
opportunities. Fortunately, Lyn will continue her
teaching and will remain involved with our
education efforts. Thank you Lyn!
The Longest Day, a campaign for the Alzheimer’s
Association is off to a great start. The VBBC
members raised $1100 at our April 13th game.
Thank you to our generous members for helping
with this important cause. We will also host
events on June 21st and 22nd.
We have Club Championships on Thursday, May
7th, on Tuesday, May 19th and on Saturday, May
23rd. These games do not cost players more and
they pay higher points. Do not miss out on these
great games.
The snowbirds are leaving for the north and the
crowds are thinning out. The Indian River Shores
Games will continue through May 19, will
discontinue over the summer months and will
resume again in November. Make your
reservations for those remaining May games with
Jamie by Email at JPORTELL1957@aol.com. The
regular schedule will be played throughout the
summer months at the VBBC. We look forward to
seeing you at the Club!

From the president’s desk The basic project for renovation of our roof has
been completed. During this past week the
contractor, Altec, received an inspection from the
material supplier which rated the completed roof
a "ten", the highest rating given and gave us an
extended warranty. Once again I would like to thank
the many members who have supported this work
with contributions toward the cost. Also, thanks to
those members who have put in long hours
defining and supervising the project. Particularly,
I should mention John McClenathan among these
individuals. There are some relatively small
follow-up jobs remaining to be done. The most
important of these is to correct erosion along the
north wall of our building. Thanks to all members
for their tolerance during the many months these
remedial steps have been in progress. It is
impressive that we have maintained a good turnout
of players during this period.
