V 8 engine by kiran

Under the guidance of: Prof. RITESH MULGE

Several engine layout has been developed one of which is v style engine .so why look at v8 in particular ,v8 engine is fairly compact layout for large engine sizes which were needed in order to move heavy vehicles at sufficient speed and proved to be a most popular engine layout.

A V8 engine is a V engine with eight cylinders mounted on the crankcase in two banks of four cylinders, in most cases set at a right angle to each other but sometimes at a narrower angle, with all eight pistons driving a common crankshaft.

In its simplest form, it is basically two straight-4engines sharing a common crankshaft. However, this simple configuration, with a single-plane crankshaft, has the dynamic imbalance problems as two straight-4s, resulting in vibrations in large engine displacements. As a result, since the 1920s most V8s have used the somewhat more complex cross plane crankshaft with heavy counterweights to eliminate the vibrations.

The v in v8 comes from the alignment of pistons.

Efficient design-Perfect firing in each cylinder, low vibration.

V shape made to come out from the basic hurdle of space limitation.

The number 8 in v8 refers to the number of pistons firing within the engine. More pistons can produce additional power ,since more explosions can occur simultaneously.

The V8 engine is an eight cylinder, water cooled unit comprising of cast aluminium cylinder block and cylinder heads.

Set of cranks are arranged along the shaft. Each crank is attached to the piston rod.

Cylinder itself forms a seal around the piston.

The v8 engine cylinders are hollowed out within the engine block.

The many possible firing orders depend on the arrangement of cranks and senseof rotation.•For the balancing of the force firing orders are used.

V6 engine contains 6 cylinder and v8 contains 8 cylinder.

V6 engine has less power and performance compare to v8 engine.

V8 engine accelerate much faster then v6.

HP is high for V8 engine.

v8 engine is inherently smoother then v6.

Compact in size.

Less vibration.

Perfect firing.

High performance.

Muscle cars

Sports cars

Luxury cars

Pickup trucks and

Sport utility vehicles

Power boats.

There have been many improvements to the internalcombustion engine over the past century, engines arenow smaller, more efficient, more powerful, produceless emissions and are more reliable. The V8configuration remains a popular choice, as a compactlayout for powerful saloons and sports cars, whilemodern restrictions means the sound is nowsomewhat muted, the classic sound remains, which isthe main appeal from the consumer end.
