ByMarch2020,ourBlackboardintegration/migrationspecialists,alongwiththeSHSUOnlineteam,hadsetupourTSUS/SRSUBlackboardenvironmentinpreparationforthestartoftheSRSUBlackboardcoursemigrationinApril.

(1)ALL2018BlackboardcoursesweresuccessfullymigratedtothenewTSUSBlackboardenvironmentfromApril6ththroughApril20th.Aseach2018termwasmigratedofftheSRSUBlackboardenvironmenttoberestoredontheTSUSBlackboardenvironment,theybecomeinaccessibletofacultyonSRSUBlackboard.

(2)AllFall2020BlackboardcoursesweresuccessfullymigratedtothenewTSUSBlackboardenvironmentfromJuly2ndthroughJuly5th(Fall2020coursesbecomeinaccessibletofacultyonSRSUBlackboard).OnJuly6th,SRSUfacultyweregiveninformationforearlyaccesstothenewTSUSsharedservicesBlackboardenvironment.

(3)All2019andSpring2020coursesmigratedtoTSUSBlackboardstartingat5pmonJuly27ththroughAugust5th.From5pmonJuly27thonward,all2019andSpring2020courseswillbecomeinaccessibletofacultyandstudentsonSRSUBlackboardastheyarebeingrestoredontheTSUSBlackboardenvironment.

(5)SeamlessswitchoveroccursfromSRSUBlackboardenvironmenttoTSUSBlackboardenvironmentonAugust17th.OnAug17th,SRfacultywillnolongerneedtousethe“earlyaccess”linktotheTSUSBbEnvironment,andSRstudentswillaccesstheTSUS/SRSUBbenvironmentfromtheSRSUwebsite.AllSRSUBlackboardcoursesthathavenotbeensettoopenearlyintheTSUSBbenvironment(suchassummer1&22020incompletes)willautomaticallyopenonAugust24th(firstdayofSRSUFallsemester).

QUESTION:WillIstillhaveto“policemyBlackboardroster”atthebeginningofeverysemesterandmanuallyremovestudentsfrommycoursewhohavedropped?ANSWER:TherearemanythingsthataregoingtobeautomatedforusfromnowonaspartoftheTSUSsharedinstanceofBlackboard.Oneofthemisthatstudentswillautomaticallyberemovedfromyourcoursewhentheydrop(instructorswillnolongerneedtodothatthemselves).Finally,right?Togainthisautomation,younolongerhavetheabilitytoaddorremoveuserstoyourcourses.Instead,whenyouneedaTA,GA,oradditionalinstructoradded(orremoved)fromoneofyourcourses,you'llemailBlackboardsupport(blackboardsupport@sulross.edu)andthey'lldoitforyou.
