A Metropolis in the making

BUT DOES IT WORK AS A COHERENT URBAN SYSTEM?

Urban nodes working together? What unites them?

The Technical Networks Basic Infrastructure

In order to compete with other similar European city regions

✤ The internal coherence of the Randstad has to be reinforced,

✤ New and better spatial infrastructures have to be created or improved

✤ The Randstad needs to be known and identified as metropolis

✤ Or we can change the name of the region to Amsterdam

A Metropolis in the making• The commuting patterns between the

various nodes in the network should be reinforced by improving the connections between them.

• The ring is the structuring element.• The station areas are ideal places to

promote new kinds of urban centrality.
