Christians have the wonderful blessing of being able to call upon God as Father. In fact,
Peter tells us in 1 Peter 1:17 that we can “…call on Him as Father…” We are able to call up-
on Him as Father because we have been adopted by Him through obedience to the Gospel
(Rom. 8:14-16). This means that God has a fatherly interest in, and love, for us. The love that
the Father has for His children is the greatest blessing that one can ever experience.
God has proven His love for us. That fact that God “is love” is confirmed throughout
Scripture. Jesus said that it was God’s love for the world that caused Him to send His Son
(John 3:16). Paul said that it was God’s love for us that motivated Him to send Jesus while we
were still sinners (Rom. 5:8). John reminds us that we love God because He first loved us (1
John 4:8-10). One cannot read the scriptures with an honest heart and not feel loved and im-
portant.
A question that I ask my wife and kids is: “how much do I love you?” I ask that question
because I want the ones that I love to know how much I love them. How much does the Fa-
ther love His children? Well, the breadth of the Father’s love can be seen in the fact that it
reaches people of every race and nationality. Peter tells us, in Acts 10:35, that ANYONE who
fears God and does what is right is accepted by Him. The length of the Father’s love can be
seen in the fact that it reaches from age to age. Jesus told His apostles, in John 13:1, that He
loved them until the end. The same holds true for us!! Finally, the depth of the Father’s love
can be seen in the fact that it reaches down to men in the lowest abyss of guilt. In 1 Tim. 1:15,
Paul considered himself the chief of sinners. Yet, he said that Christ came to save even him.
God’s love cannot truly be measured!
“Could we with ink the ocean fill, And were the skies with parchment made; Were every
stalk on earth a quill, And every man a scribe by trade; To write the love of God above, Would
drain the ocean dry, Nor could a scroll contain the whole, Though stretched from sky to
sky.” (The Love of God)

The Big Blue Box
We, as Christians, need to show con-cern for our brethren and others. If you know of someone who needs checking on, has problems in their life, etc. write out the information and put it in the Blue Box in the foyer. David Mar-tin is overseeing this good work.
The Big Black Box Every 3rd Sunday evening, Jimmy will have a Questions & Answers session. You can submit Biblical questions by placing them in the Big Black Box in the foyer. These ques-tions will be dealt with in the order they are received.
