GOLGOTHA IS MORE THAN A DIRT HILL! “HAVE YOU BEEN TO CALVARY?”
BAPTIST HYMNAL - #256
“Have you been to the cross where the Lord Jesus suffered? Have you been to Calvary?
Have you been to the place of redemption for sinners? Have you been to Calvary? It was there on Calvary,
God’s dear Son lay down His life for you. While there’s time, don’t delay; place your faith in Christ Jesus.
Turn your eyes now to Calvary.
You can search, you can buy and try everything man-made, but it cannot satisfy.
It is Christ, only Christ, who gives life more abundant, and He calls from Calvary.
While the Spirit’s clear voice can be heard softly pleading, give your life to Jesus now.
Trusting faith is the way to have life everlasting, and He calls from Calvary.”
There is certainly nothing wrong about going to the geographical location called . . . Golgotha! However, it will be eternally dreadful for anyone who has not been there spiritually! The dictionary describes “Golgotha” as . . . “a hill near Jerusalem where Jesus was crucified”. It was at Calvary where Jesus paid the ultimate price for my sins . . . for your sins . . . and for the sins of all mankind. It was at Calvary where Jesus shed His blood so that we could have an eternal relationship with God, our Heavenly Father. If you have not done so, let me encourage you to “visit” Golgotha today . . . right now! He died for you, for me, and for all people so that we could have eternal, everlasting life! And if you HAVE BEEN TO CALVARY, share your experience with someone today!

How to Join Our Church Family
We would love to talk to you about salvation and/or church membership.
To speak to someone about becoming part of our church family, you may choose any of these options: 1. During the concluding hymn of the morning worship service, walk to the front of the Worship Center to speak with Pastor Brian. 2. On the 1st Sun. of each month, following the service, Pastor Brian will be available in Room #202 to talk with you & answer any questions. 3. At any time, you may email Pastor Brian at [email protected] or text or call him at 601-616-9641 to schedule a time to talk.
From Our Pastor... Disciples, Disciple-Makers, & Missionaries
This morning, we will finish our 4-part series on The Reset that occurred with the world-wide flood God sent. We will then revisit the idea of Three Distinctives of those who are Walking Like Jesus:
Being Disciples Being Disciple-Makers Being Missionaries
Most of us here would say that we are believers in Jesus. This is
what God tells us about those of us who would say this: "By this we
know that we are in Jesus: the one who says he abides in Him ought
himself to walk in the same manner as He walked." 1 John 1:5-6
Clearly, we are supposed to be walking like Jesus. Jesus commanded the disciples, "Come, Follow Me," and as you follow Me you will learn to walk like Me. You will learn how to talk like Me. You will learn how to interact with others like Me. You will learn how to listen to the Holy Spirit like Me. Jesus' last words in Matthew are called the Great Commission and it tells us as His disciples that "as we are going" we should be disciple-makers and missionaries. Then the remainder of the New Testament helps us understand how to do so. We are told to:
Be Disciples who "excel still more" (1 Thessalonians 4:10); Be Disciple-makers who entrust His teachings into others (2 Timothy 2:2); & Be Missionaries who carry the gospel from your front door to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8).
I pray that each of us will become more obedient in walking like Jesus and will affirm the following statement with our mouths, our minds, and our lives: "I Am a Disciple, I Am a Disciple-Maker, & I Am a Missionary. So as I am going, I will change my conversations, and I will excel still more."
I Love You! --Brian
