2. Construction
The grinding spindle is mounted axially adjustable in a clamping block. It is driven v ia endless belt by a 3-phase motor. The motor is guarded by a filter against dust and dirt and is adjustable at the clamping block by means of a rocker. The block is slotted for mounting on the slide of a machine tool. The reduced spindle overhang guarantees precise surface finish.
3. External or internal grinding
For these modes of grinding use different pulleys and driving belts in order to attain the highest possible peripheral speed of the grinding wheel. Moreover, external grinding requires a wheel guard. The extension spindles on pages 2 and 3 are used for internal grinding. When replacing grinding wheel flange (63) or extension spindles, MT-socket as well as tapered spindle should be slightly lubricated. When replacing pulley or grinding wheel take care that spindle is not forced, in order t o avoid damage to ball bearings or axial play , which impair the surface finish.
4. Connection
Check connection of socket and earthing conductor (voltage tester) before connecting the tool. Run tool unloaded for a short time in order to check the prescribed direction of rotation and to avoid loosening of the grinding wheel while working. Further, check the running of the driving belt. The tension of the belt must not be too high in order to avoid unnecessary stress on or damage to the spindle bearings. For external grinding mind correct adjustment of the wheel guard.
5. Tending the driving belt
Unscrew hexagon screw (39) and displace rocker w ith motor to adjust the required tension of the belt. Maybe, the guard (45) should be adjusted; for this purpose unscrew h exagon nuts (48, 53).
6. Grinding wheel
For good surface finish use for soft material a hard-bonded wheel
for hard material a soft-bonded wheel Layers of elastic material should be placed between flange and grinding wheel. In doubt, ask your dealer for the correct wheel

stating the purpose. At any rate, observe the instructions on "max. peripheral speed of grinding wheels" .
7. Dressing the grinding wheel
Usually the grinder remains fixed on the slide and the grinding wheel is moved uniformly to and fro in front of the dressing tool mounted on the lathe. Avoid free-hand dressing of the wheel as it is inaccurate and also dangerous. Inaccurately dressed grinding wheels impair the surface finish.
8. Dismantling of motor
1. Pull out plug.
2. Take off pulley.
3. Unscrew 4 nuts (21) and remove hexagon screw s (19).
4. Remove ball bearings .
Re-assemble in reverse sequence.
8a Dismantling of spindle
1. Remove cylindrical screws (61) and take off pulley (62) or (92) as well as grinding w heel flange (63) or extension spindle .
2. Unscrew grubscrews (59, 60, 70). 3. Take out spindle shaft.
9. Maintenance and lubrication
1. Motor Continuous use of the motor requires careful maintenance. The rotor ball bearings are protected against dust and dirt and loss of grease by sealing rings . The tool should be cleaned thoroughly after approx. 800 duty hours and old grease should be removed. Rinse ball bearings and r efill 1/3
with fresh, acid-free grease. Clean all electric parts dry and blow or brush away the dust.
2. Spindle We recommend to take spindle apart after 500 duty hours and to clean all parts thoroughly. Rinse ball bearings and refill 1(3 w ith acid-free grease.
10. Spare parts
When ordering spare parts, p lease, quote Order Reference or send in sample part.
