To manage the challenge of growth we need more infrastructure and more collaboration ! Interoperability makes collaboration easier !

The Global Perspective - Why do we need standards ? Why do we need ACRIS ?
Without a common set of business definitions agreed by the interested parties, Aviation Industry cannot communicate effectively and efficiently with each other.
Without data standards and data quality, the future of interoperability is bleak.
So, …
Standards create business interoperability, since standards can help you overcome the technical barriers that prevent data sharing between information systems of different partners.

The Global Perspective – ACI ACRIS plugs und sockets for our business !
ACI ACRIS (Aviation Community Recommended Information Services) is a working group of the ACI World IT Standing Committee
• ACRIS was established in 2009
• Open for all interested stakeholders in the aviation industry
• Chairman: Rolf Felkel (FRA)Vice-Chair: Ian Law (SFO)Secretary: Serge Yonke Nguewo (ACI)

The Global Perspective – ACRIS benefits !
Fast and easy implementation
Cost-effective implementation
Cost-effective development
More predictable results
Advance transparency and quality of data
Drive system integration
Improve ease of doing business by increasing technical and business interoperability

The development of WebService (SOAP) and API (RESTful) descriptions for B2B and B2C scenarios is organized in projects.
For example:
−Baggage and Passenger Conformance WebServices (also known as IATA RP1741 CUWS)−A-CDM Common Situational Awareness WebServices (release candidate V 2.0 available)−Seamless Travel WebServices (first B2C WebServices – V1.1 available)−Airport Geospacial Information System (PoC done – work ongoing)
... and more are ongoing or will come !
All projects are supported by an ACRIS Methodology and the ACRIS Semantic Model !

B2C for Airport Services – „Seamless Travel“ perspective
Fraport AG
Goal of the ACRIS project “Seamless Travel”:
Define Standard APIs (RESTful) to provide information and services to passengers at the airport in a standardized way !
This can includes:• Information about flights, restaurants, shops, parking, public transportation, etc.• Bookable services like parking lot or fast lane• Vouchers for any kind of service at the airport• Navigation at the airport • Booking of services at the destination airport• Information about other airports (flight data, weather condition, strike, etc.)

The European Perspective – Welcome to the world of regulations!

We all know the GDPR, but who knows the PSI Directive ?
The Public Sector Information Directive (originally from 2003) and its goals are:
“The Directive aimed to facilitate the re-use of PSI throughout the Union by harmonising the basic conditions for re-use and removing major barriers to re-use in the internal market. It introduced provisions on non-discrimination, charging, exclusive arrangements, transparency, licensing and practical tools to facilitate the discovery and re-use of public sector information.
Meanwhile the EC realized that …
“In the European Union, the public sector is one of the most data-intensive sectors. The re-use of the open data can contribute, for example, to the growth of the European economy, the development of artificial intelligence and to overcoming societal challenges.”
Therefore on April 25th 2018 the EC has published their plans for the future … the new PSI Directive !

The new PSI Directive …
… is dealing with documents (paper and electronic) and dynamic data (electronic)
… affects Airports (Directive 2014/25/EU on procurement by entities in […] transport […] services sectors)
… affects Airlines (air carriers fulfilling public service […] Article 16 of Regulation (EC) No 1008/2008)
… request the re-use of data and deals with the conditions of re-using this data
… mandated the use of APIs for electronic data
… demands non-discrimination and prohibits exclusive arrangements … demands the EC to adopt the list of high value datasets, to be available for free, machine-readable and
accessible via APIs. The conditions for re-use shall be compatible with open standard licenses.

A wonderful API Economy Value Chain story:
• Flight data API based on Seamless Travel standard specification was implemented on Fraports open API platform (https://developer.fraport.de) in March 2016 for an local hackathon event.
• Based on this open flight data APIs a Berlin startup company developed a Facebook Messenger ChatBot and presented it to Fraport in August 2016.
• In September 2016 Fraport decided to introduce this ChatBot as another passenger information channel.
• In December 2016 FRAnky went live !

The local (Fraport) perspective – (Open) Data Strategy Governance
Fraport is currently developing an (Open) Data Strategy Governance as a part of our Fraport Digitalization Strategy.
The core question is:
Who is making the decision on sharing which data under which conditions with whom ?
Our answer:
Not the data owner, but a committee ofbusiness experts from various department of Fraport ! And IT is facilitating this process !
Fraport AG
Support standards on a global level !
Deal with regulations on a European level !
Act local to facilitate and profit from data sharing in your own environment !
And support ACRIS to manage the challenge of growth throughout the whole aviation eco system !
