IMAGINE What God Can DoMatthew 5:16
Our theme this fall is IMAGINE; taken from Paul’s prayer where he declared that we serve a God that can do more than we can ask or imagine (Eph. 3:20). This morning, we begin a new focus on striving to be the kind of Church God wants us to be. Would you rather be a
part of the best Church IN our community or be a part of the best church FOR our community? Today, we’ll see that how we answer that question is important.
I. Being the best Church in our community is about ____________________. “You yourselves are my witnesses that I said, ‘I am not the Christ,’ but, ‘I have been sent ahead of Him.’ He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice. So this joy of mine has been made full.’” - John 3:28-29
II. Being the best Church for our community is about ___________________.
1. The Great Commission is not a ______________________________. “… ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’” - Matthew 28:18-20
*Every Christian has at least two major callings:
a. The call to _________________________________________.
b. The call to _________________________________________.
2. What happens during the week _____________________________. “So Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.’” - John 20:21
a. The Church serving ____________________________________.
b. The Church serving ____________________________________.
Imagine how we might change our community of we intentionally served it.
If you want to know more about becoming a member of First Benton, consider joining us today after the second service to learn more about our church and
meet some of our staff. We’ll give you the opportunity to join during the lunch.
