Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan birth day which is also called Teachers Day was celebrated in Rotary South on 8th September, 2010. It was a joint program with Inner Wheel Club of Bangalore South. The chief guest for the program was Sri. G .Venka tasubba iah , no t ed litterateur retired Principal, Vijaya College and recipient of Gokak Award. He is a 98 years young man. He was introduced to the audience by Rtn. P.C.Balaraj. Prof. G. Venkatasubbaiah was felicitated by
Rotary Bangalore South was adjudged as the best club for the month of August in the major club category by District 3190. President Rtn. M.Prabhudeva received the award from District Governor Rtn. M.N.Suresh during New Generation ICGF held on 5th September, 2010. Congratulations to President and all the members of the Club for this achievement.

Teachers Day Celebration- 8-9-2010
Rotary South for his achievements and his contribution to Kannada.
Five Teachers were selected to confer vocational excellence award. Smt.Parvathy, Smt. Ravikala, Smt. Kamakshi,Smt.Saugandhika Pushpa and Sri. Prahalad Rao were the recipients of awards. Smt. Ravikala was from Yoga teaching and the rest are school teachers.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof G.Venkata subbaiah explained the importance of a teacher to the community and their great contribution in development of students to build the nation. Meeting ended with vote of thanks proposed by Rtn. D.L.Prakash.
Rtn. G.Muralidhar celebrated his 60th birthday and sponsored the dinner for the day.

The weekly meeting started with introduction of chief guest Mr.Jaya Satishkumar an expert in Vaastu and Numerology by Rtn. Siva Prasad. Chief Guest explained about the importance of Vaastu in every body's life. He specially stressed the point on Vaastu compliance in construction of house. Meeting ended with vote of thanks proposed by Rtn. Babu Shankar.

Month started with ICGF on New Generation which was enjoyed by all Rotarians. Entire month was buzzing with activities ranging from Installation of Rotaract and Interact clubs to celebration of teachers’ day and helping the needy. Biggest moment was when Rotary Bangalore South got best club award for the month of August from DG Rtn. M.N.Suresh. Well done President. Keep it up.
Our president will herald a new chapter in South history by completing the Hasiru Kranthi project to regreen Bangalore.

other Rotarians of Bangalore South.
On the occasion of Teachers Day, Vocational Services Advisor - Rtn. Dr. H.V.Rajashekara Setty ably supported by Rtn.Dr. Anegundi and Rtn. Dr. Prafulla Thumati organised a Health Care Camp for the teachers and other staff of VVN School. More than 100 teachers and staff were examined for diabetics, hypertension, dental check up, Cholestral, Obesity, etc. The free medicines and advise were given to the people who had problems. The program was supported by drug companies like US Vitamins, Abbot Laboratories, Micro Lab and Alembic specialities. Doctors from Dayanand Sagar College of Dental Sciences also participated in the camp.

Installation of Rotaract Club of RVCE - 16-9-10
Rotary Bangalore South celebrated 150th birth
anniversary of genial engineer Sir M.Visveswaraiah on
15th Sept. The day is also celebrated as Engineers
Day. PDG Rtn. S.Udayashankar, President
M.Prabhudeva and other members of the South club
were present during the garlanding of the Sir
M.Visvesaraiah statue at VV Puram circle, Bangalore.
The bust of Sir M.Visvesariah was decorated with
flowers for the occasion. Sweets were distributed on
this occasion. The entire program was sponsored by
Rtn. M.G.Nagendra.
150th birth anniversary of Sir M.Visveswaraiah -15-9-10
World Ozone day was celebrated on 16th September,
2010 by Rotary Bangalore South along with
Maharani’s College for Women, Bangalore. Rtn. Ashok
Maheshwari, Chairman, Rotary District Environment
Committee, explained the potential dangers of losing
ozone layer due to pollution and the need to protect
ozone layer and balance the environment. Saplings
were planted on this occasion. Meeting was also
attended by local MLA, Sri Roshan Baig, Sri Suresh
Heblikar, Environmentalist, Prof Shakuntala,
Principal and Lt. Governor Rtn. B.S.Arunkumar.
World Ozone Day
RYLA was organised jointly with Rotary Bangalore
Megacity by Rotary Bangalore South at National High
school, Basavanagudi on 8th September, 2010. More
than 1100 students participated in the RYLA.

New team of Rotaract club of RVCE was installed on
16th September at the college premises. PRID Rtn.
M.K.Panduranga Setty was the chief guest and he
installed new president Rtr. Abhishek Yadav along
with his team. New members to Rotaract club were
inducted by Rtn. M.Prabhudeva, Rotary South
president. DGE Rtn. Pandurang Potnis, DDR Rtr. Giri
Chittur also graced the occasion.

Rotary has satisfactorily demonstrated the fact that friendship can easily
hurdle national and religious boundary lines.
15-9-10- District Heart Surgery program
Health is one of the important avenues of service for Rotary. District 3190 planned to conduct 365 heart surgeries during the Rotary Year 2010-11. Rotary Bangalore South wants to participate in the program. Rtn. O.P.Khanna, Director for Health, Dist 3190 was the guest speaker for the day. Program started with invocation rendered by Ann Vijaya Puttaraju. Rtn. Dr. Kiran Shankar introduced the guest speaker. Rtn. O.P.Khanna made a PPT presentation about the District Heart Surgery program planned jointly with Needy Heart Foundation. He explained that each heart operation costs between Rs 2- 2.5 Lakhs. Club contributes about Rs30000 for each case, Hospital subsidises about Rs50-75K and rest is paid by District 3190.
President Rtn. M.Prabhudeva informed that South will sponsor 6 heart surgeries. Rtn. Jeetu Mutha, Rtn. M.G.Nagendra, Rtn. T.R.Dwarakanath, Rtn. S.A.Gopalakrishna, Ann Lakshmi Krisnamurthy and Rtn. Dr.H.V.Rajashekara Setty agreed to sponsor one surgery each by contributing Rs30000. Meeting ended with vote of thanks proposed by Rtn. P.S.Ramesh.
Teachers Training Program
Rotary Bangalore South and Sankya- Rotary Computer Project
together organised a training program for the teachers in teaching
of computers. Many teachers attended the program and
certificates were distributed after completion of training program.

held as a month end

performed humorous
skits and entertained
all the members
present.
Rtn. T.R.Dwarakanath identified a blind girl who is very keen to
complete music course which costs Rs20,000. He explained the
keen interest of the girl Ms.Kusuma who is blind to complete the
course but cannot afford. Many Rotarians came forward to help
her to join the course.
