Precision ball bearings align the coplanar inner and outer ring grooves and capturethe rolling flexure, shaped like a wedding band, to complete an electrical circuit between the rotorand stator.
As the inner rotor of the module rotates clockwise, and the outer stator remains fixed, the flexuresrotate counter clockwise and orbit the axis of rotation clockwise. Direct metal-to-metal contact throughthe preloaded flexure provides and reliable contact performance that is backed by design analysis andlife tests. While the sliding action of a slip ring creates intermittent electrical contact and wear, Roll-Rings provide low electrical resistance noise, minimal torque, and negligible wear debris.
