Our media specialist is Heather Whitton, she has been here for two years taking care of our students and teachers. Our media paraprofessional is Melissa Worthy she has been at Tallapoosa Primary for 5 years.3Circulation Desk

This is the circulation desk where our students check in and out their books. The students return their books to the white baskets and then have a seat on the rug for story time with Mrs. Whitton. The students will be learning something from a science or social studies standards that their teacher has talked with Mrs. Whitton about. Mrs. Whitton does a very good job at introducing concepts from the standards for our students here at Tallapoosa Primary School during their visit to the media center. After the story the students will then check out books. They are first required to get a squirt of hand sanitizer and a stick to hold their book places while they browse through the books in the media center.4Media Center Workstations

These are the workstations that the students can use to look up a book, take an Accelerated Reader test, or do research on a particular topic that their teacher has assigned for them.5Nonfiction Books
Nonfiction book are shelved according to the Dewey Decimal System:

This is our nonfiction books. They are shelved by the Dewey Decimal System from 000 900. I think that we have a very good collection of nonfiction books for our students covering the state standards and much more.6Fiction Books

In the primary school some of these books are called Easy Readers
This is our fiction books. They are shelved in alphabetical order according to the authors last name. Some of these books at the primary level are called Easy Readers.7Reference BooksReference books include:

This is the reference section. At the primary school level the reference section is not as large as higher level schools. We have a few materials that can be used as reference material. With the new age of technology many of the reference materials are now found on the internet.8Big Books
This is the big books section that the teacher can check out and use for standards or for pleasure. The students love to look at the big books.9Magazines

These are the magazines that the teacher use as resources for ideas while teaching lessons.10Movies: VCR and DVD Tapes
This area houses our VCR and DVD collection. We have a lot of VCR and DVD tapes that cover our standard concepts that help the teachers introduce and teach their lessons. 11Teacher Resources

These are the workrooms that the teachers use to laminate materials, make posters, and cut letters and objects out of construction paper. There are more magazines, kits, leap mats, and leap frogs for the teacher to use also.12Computer Lab

This is the computer lab that the teachers sign up for 30 minute segments for the students to work as a whole class on several programs that are installed on the computers or are on the internet.13Media Specialist Office

Mrs. Whitton uses the SmartBoard to show the students presentations about authors, introduces the Book Fair, and staff use it during faculty meetings.16Book are Fun
