• Planner• Science notebook• Infographic packet from last week• Pencil
• Lab report if yours is due today
• You will be given a new Catalyst sheet
1. Make a prediction: What do you think will happen and
why?2. After watching the demo,
what happened, and why do you think it happened?
Catalyst
What does this demo suggest about whether air pressure only pushes down, or whether it pushes in other directions, too?
Pressure is the force over a given area.
Water pressure is the force exerted on
something by water molecules
Air pressure is the force exerted on something by the
particles that make up air.
Both water pressure and air pressure are related to height
Both water pressure and air pressure are related to height
Both water pressure and air pressure are also related to density
Both water pressure and air pressure are also related to density
Since we know that density is related to temperature, we must also know that
pressure is related to temperature too!
Homework
- Final Infographic due Wednesday (period 2) or Thursday (periods 1, 7, and 8)
Your Infographic must include…
• A good, clear definition of pressure• At least one graphic with accompanying text that
shows and describes the relationship between density and pressure
• At least one graphic with accompanying text that shows and describes the relationship between pressure and water depth
• At least one graphic with accompanying text that shows and describes the relationship between pressure and weather patterns

1. What is air pressure?2. How does increasing the density
of a gas affect its pressure?3. What is altitude?4. As altitude increases, how does
air pressure change? How does density change?
