Beyond the Cube Successful Life Principles

What is your personal definition of a successful life?

Successful Life Principles

In an account of life battles and challenges, winners and losers are separated only by the way they approach it.

Successful Life Principles

Through the years of my study, learning and teaching, I’ve come to realise that other than talent, relationship, skills and familiarity with the industry, when you aim for the stars, you need the firepower to take you there.

Successful Life Principles

In this final part of my personal reflection, allow me to impart five of my most treasured principles to propel you towards a successful life.

1. Open Mind

In any challenges that you face or are going to face, always maintain an open mind. Put away whatever preconceived ideas, thoughts or thinking that could mar your decision making. Having them is as good as closing your mind to better solutions and alternatives, one that will derail your quest for success even before you begin.

1. Open Mind

To put it in perspective, let’s imagine an athlete who starts playing with a closed thinking pattern where in his or her mind, the opponent will win.

What do you think the outcome will be? Will he or she win the game?

1. Open Mind

In facing your challenges, it is imperative to have an open mind. It helps you to embrace rather than escape from the trying times that are coming your way.

2. Positive Thinking

“Yes I can! Great! Awesome!”

Words such as these and more can help instill positive thinking. This is the second principle to success.

In times of calamities and destructions, we have only two options as far as thinking is concerned and positive certainly outweighs that of negative.

2. Positive Thinking

My Story

I remember once when I drove to another state for a client’s appointment, a little stone hit my front windscreen. The damage was costly both in terms of the physical crack and to my personal wallet. Admittedly I was frustrated and down but it didn’t take long for me to look past it. What happened was that I had girded myself with a positive mindset before heading out that morning and this little mind exercise had enabled me to see past the cracks and onto making my client’s appointment a success.

2. Positive Thinking

The lesson here is this, having a positive mind from the beginning can help you circumvent any problems that may come to you midway in your journey. You can do this with a constant positive mental exercise.

How?

2. Positive Thinking

In a daily practice, recite positive affirmations at least twice a day, once in the morning before you start the day and another in the night before you sleep.

2. Positive Thinking

Be consistent at it and intersperse it with regular reading, surrounding yourself with like-minded people and applying positive words when faced with a huge task.

2. Positive Thinking

As a result:

You will then witness change taking place dramatically. You will see a new you tackling situations in a new light, on a new paradigm and in a renewed mindset to conquer it.

Being positive far exceeds just dressing up with a smile, it is about the whole attitude of being positive. The timeless Zig Ziglar puts it best,

“Positive thinking won’t let you do anything but it will let you do everything better than negative thinking will.”

As such, go on to set your goals with a positive attitude. Always check your mindset so that you’re in the positive zone and remember, the power to change your mind can begin from as small as reading great and positive quotes on a daily basis.

A Greater Attitude, A Higher Altitude but How?

2 ways by Johann Paul Gregory

1. Play on the Right Side

2. Mix with Positive People - surround yourself with people who can lift you up

instead of pulling you down.

Who are you mixing with?

What are they trying to tell you?

What are their background?

3. Planning

We make plans for our annual holidays, plans to implement a project at our workplace and plans for our weddings, we do this because we want a smooth journey leading to our goals and destinations. Granted the plan may not be 100% accurate, poor planning however will lead to below par execution and results. So once you have an open mind and equipped with positive thinking, it is time for you to start planning.

3. Planning

Critical to your planning is to be able to document, reflect and visualise the issues that might come to you and how you are going to overcome them. The clearer you can see them, the better the outcome will be.

3. Planning

You may also consult those who have gone through the same challenge for their opinions and advice. If you have difficulties in finding a suitable person to share with regarding your situation, you can always email us at johann@lifeedu.com. my. We can help you.

3. Planning

In truth, planning actually does not take up a lot of time. In fact, it helps you to save time in the long run. My rule of thumb is plan over three hours for every one hour of execution. And remember, after you’ve planned your roadmap, you must follow that up with action.

Powerful Career Plan

Everyone needs a future. The career path you present to them must be realistic and achievable even if it looks bigger than them right now. In fact big becomes relative as they get motivated to achieve greater things along the way.

4. Persevere

4. Persevere

Success in all sense of the word is defined in many ways and for as many ways as you can pursue it, that is as much time it will take to build a life towards that sort of success.

4. Persevere

Don’t be perturbed when your success seems distant or elusive when you’re pursuing it. It is meant to be that way. Once you have mastered all the skills required to be proficient in your area, then success will be just around the corner.

“Never give up because success is around the corner.”

Never, never, never give up! ~ Sir Winston Churchill

Is perseverance a skill or an attitude?

In my opinion, perseverance is an attitude. We don’t give up when the challenges are mounting high, especially like when Sir Winston Churchill was facing the war.

Many successful people have persevered in their own respective careers, be it while working for others or while owning their own businesses. What separates them, the winners from the losers is their ‘fighting’ spirit to stay on course and to battle it through.

Success is hence a journey. While every journey is different, there’s no guarantee which among you will have a shorter one compared to another. The key is to just persevere when you’re in the season to learn and climb the steep learning curve. Sometimes, you may also have to weather through the dark clouds, storms and the unpredictable economic turbulence to get to your destination. But take heart, you’re not the only one who is on that path, even household names like Steve Jobs, Howard Schultz, Donald Trump and the many tycoons around the world have seen those storms and come out alive. They have persevered through the tumbling days before rising to ride on a higher plane like they do now. You, yes you, is no exception.

Here are some tips: ● Stay focused ● Read motivational books and quotes●Surround yourself with successful like-minded people

5. Succeed

How does success actually look like?

What do you do when you have arrived at them?

5. Succeed

To most of us and at least the younger generation, success is as simple as emulating a certain leading global icon from movie stars to business leaders. We do this consciously or subconsciously without knowing we are steering our ship towards it.

5. Succeed

To begin with, success must have a way to measure it and this is possible even with family time. You can put them into a schedule of sorts with timeline, quantity or quality.

5. Succeed

When you succeed, sit down and celebrate with the people that matter most to you like your family, colleagues, mentors and friends.

Whoever that have contributed to keeping you on track deserve to celebrate your accomplishments together.

Remember to thank them too because everyone likes a grateful winner.

5. Succeed

Finally, as you celebrate the victory, come to your senses the day after to determine your next aspirations in life. Why? Because the best in you does not stop at just overcoming the tough times, it permeates through to the good times and expands beyond the best of times!
