God bless our men and women who put their lives on
the line to preserve freedom around the world. We
thank God for our good fortune to be citizens of the
USA. We continue to pray for our men and women
overseas especially, Justin Gousha, Raymond Henry,
Shawn Jarrell, Becky & Nick Johnson, Brian Simmons,
Rob Solome, Sarah Turse, Michael Ekimogolu, Chris
Fusco, Charity Winkler, Brian Schwartz, and Josh Lit-
tle. If someone has returned home, we ask that you let
us know. Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their
families for the selfless acts they perform in our time
of need. We ask this in Jesus’ name.

Dear Friends in Christ,
On the 22nd of January, once again, Pro-lifers will travel to Washington, D.C. to the
annual March for Life. Sadly, another year has passed where we must go to our nation’s
capital to witness against the forces that continue to defend the right to take the life of a child in the womb.
Recently, Reuters printed an absurd headline: “Pope in nod to conservatives, calls abortion ‘horrific.”” The
article went on to say, “His [Pope Francis] stance favoring mercy over condemnation has disoriented
conservative Catholics.” Really, this pope is anything but political! Pope Francis has defended life in very
strong ways, calling the face of the child in the womb the face of Jesus and mandating a converted
abortionist to go and proclaim life after the doctor placed his instruments of death in the Holy Father’s
hands. Pope Francis states in his apostolic exhortation, Evangelii Gaudium, “Among the vulnerable for
whom the Church wishes to care with particular love and concern are unborn children, the most defenseless
and innocent among us. Nowadays efforts are made to deny them their human dignity and to do with them
whatever one pleases, taking their lives and passing laws preventing anyone from standing in the way of this.
Frequently, as a way of ridiculing the Church’s effort to defend their lives, attempts are made to present her
position as ideological, obscurantist and conservative. Yet this defense of unborn life is closely linked to the
defense of each and every other human right…Precisely because this involves the internal consistency of our
message about the value of the human person, the Church cannot be expected to change her position on this
question. I want to be completely honest in this regard. This is not something subject to alleged reforms or
‘modernizations’. It is not ‘progressive’ to try to resolve problems by eliminating a human life.’” Pope
Francis continues the Church’s unbroken defense of all human life and he reminds us of the fact that God
said, “Thou shall not kill.”
God bless you,
Father Szolack
Family Prayer Crucifix for Vocations
Every Sunday at 10 AM Mass, we will see a
family receive a Crucifix to take home for the
week to pray for vocations to the Holy
Priesthood and Religious Life. It is con-
tained in a beautiful handcrafted box which also serves
as a stand for the Crucifix. Prayers to be used by the
host family are on a laminated program in the box. Eve-
ry weekend the host family will return the Crucifix in
procession. A new host family will receive it at the end
of Mass. Sister Vilma is the crucifix for vocations coor-
dinator. Let us pray for holy vocations to religious life
from our parish. If you are praying over a possible call-
ing, please speak to Father Szolack.

A Prayer for Priests
Keep the, I pray Thee, dearest Lord, keep them, for they
are Thine-- Thy priests whose lives burn out before Thy
consecrated shrine.
Keep them for they are in the world though from the
world apart, when earthly pleasures tempt, allure, --
shelter them in Thy heart.
Keep them and comfort them in hours, of loneliness and
pain, when all their life of sacrifice for souls seems but
in vain.
Keep them, and O remember Lord, they have no one but
Thee, yet they have only human hearts with human frail-
ty.
Keep them as spotless as the Host, -- that daily, they
caress -- their every thought and word and deed deign,
dearest Lord, to bless.
