Speech Due Dates

• Complete first draft of speech due FRIDAY 5/9 • Practice Practice Practice over the weekend!

• Complete final draft TYPED/MLA FORMATTED due TUESDAY 5/13 (the day you present)

Presenting Your Speech • We will start (and try to finish) presentations on 5/13 • You MAY NOT read from a copy of your speech during

your presentation delivery• Notecards/PowerPoint Slides printed out to HELP you

remember your INTENDED speech are allowed (maximum 3 notecards/1 sided) • Practice is essential- it is all about how you SELL your

THESIS (if you stray from your pre-planned speech a bit that is OK- but I should be able to see that the MAJORITY of your speech was preplanned when I compare your presentation with your final draft)

Speaking Tips • The best way to practice your speech is

to present it aloud—again and again.• Try speaking in front of a mirror so you

can evaluate and improve your posture, gestures, eye contact, and use of visual aids.• You might tape-record a practice

session so you can critique your voice quality and effectiveness.
