WHAT IS FROST?

Frost is more interesting than it seems! Frost starts off as tiny droplets in the air, and on cold nights they will freeze. The frozen droplets make a thin layer of frost and, like snow, they will cover the grass, branches, and leaves!!

WHY IS SNOW IMPORTANT?

Snow is important! It may not seem like it is, but it is! Snow is important because when it melts the water goes back into the rivers, lakes, and the seas!

HOW MANY SHAPES OF SNOWFLAKES ARE THERE?

Do you ever wonder how many shapes of snowflakes there are? Well I do. I learned that snow is usually in 5 different shapes, and almost all of those have 6 sides! But they’re not always going to stay the same. They actually change several times in the air!

HAS SNOW EVER KILLED SOMETHING?

Snow has killed many things. For example, a

huge storm hit and killed many barn animals in

1888. The animals died because the farmers

could not get them in their barn on time so they

froze outside.

HOW IS SNOW FORMED?

Snow is formed by something called the water cycle! The water cycle happens by water vapor rising from lakes, rivers, seas, and puddles, which then turn into crystals while they’re in the clouds. The ice crystals then fall back to earth as snow! Then the whole cycle starts all over again!

HOW DO YOU MEASURE SNOW?

Did you know you could measure snow? Well, you can! All you have to do is stand a ruler in the snow and see how much has fallen!
