Spring is on the way and I can hardly
wait to go barefooted. Our chapter has been
having so much f un. I’m happy to see the
participation we are enjoying. So many
friends, fellowship, food and, yes, lots of
painting.
Shayron taught us a wonderful project
at our March meeting. Whoever thought we
could paint an eagle on a beautiful
background? You are the best, Shayron!
In addition to Shayron’s eagle project,
there was also a wonderful display of
sketchbooks at our last meeting. So much
talent out there! I hope all of you are
inspired to join in the fun. Just let your
creative juices flow!
The Carl Larsson seminar is right
around the corner. Please have your project
base coated so it can dry, and apply your
pattern.
We are ready for another great class in
April. The Programs Committee has
stepped up to the plate with a wonderful
round robin. It’s a chance to give back and
share. Hope you all enjoy the experience!
There are so many people to thank for
this chapter being a success. Please know
that we appreciate all you do.
See you at the April meeting.

What inspires you to create? I was browsing my
Decorative Painter back issues and was noticing some
definite universal themes. It was fun to make a list of what
we as decorative painters enjoy painting together, like
houses with fences and trees, farms, crows, pigs,
sunflowers, roses, sailboats and lighthouses. Americana
and holiday themes like gingerbread, jack-o-lanterns and
santas.
Making a list gets more fun when you make it more
specifically yours. Try it! I even came up with some new
ideas I hadn’t thought of before. Yesterday I was even
feeling inspired with pizza as an art form after I didn’t get
what I wanted for dinner! I started sketching in my
sketchbook a pepperoni pizza, veggies, and all the herbs I
could grow in my garden for it. I watched a cute movie
called Pizza My Heart, and looked up some recipes to try. I
haven't painted a pizza yet, but maybe that pizza oven my
husband wants in my backyard is one step closer.
While in San Diego with a new grandson, there isn’t a
lot to report except he’s really cute! He and mama are doing
great. And I may be making them pizza for dinner.
Meanwhile, I hope you all enjoy the Carl Larson
seminar and have a great time at the April round robin.
Don’t forget to bring a few
basic supplies, including
flats and a liner to get you
started, a stylus, and maybe
a scrap of tracing paper,
brown paper, and a sanding
pad. You may also want to
bring a sketchbook or
journal.
All is a go for our May
class with Janet Mitchell.
Make sure you sign up at
April chapter meeting to
ensure a seat for this fun
project.
June will be painting beautiful flowers with enamels
on both a glass pumpkin and terra cotta pot with Tami
Carmody. Glass painting with Tami is fun and relaxing, and
you will finish your projects that day. The pumpkin surface
is available for purchase from Tami for $10, and she also
has a few pots available for $5, or you can bring your own.

Spring is here! I’m sure you are all dealing with lovely
weeds popping up everywhere with all the rain. I know I
have been busy around my house.

her eagle at our March chapter meeting and gave us a great
amount of information about the birds.
We currently have 42 members who have paid chapter

All membership directories have been mailed. If you
did not receive yours please let me know.
We have a new member Judith Boyd please welcome

Hello Chapter Members,
Just want to give a big thank you to Sheila Hughes and
Sue Crump for taking care of the caring place in March. I
saw the cute wooden birds they painted. Good job ladies,
loved them.
In April, Pat Gettemeyer has signed up to be a helper.
I’m hoping to be up to teaching them by then. Thanks for
the prayers for my health. If I’m still not up to teaching yet,
I will need more help. Let me know if anyone is willing to
help out, thanks.
Memory boxes- I have given all the memory boxes
that were given to me to my husband, who works for Palm
Mortuary. He is very grateful to our members who painted
them, and is happy to be able to give them to families that
have had a death of a child. He will be using them for
babies and teenagers. I gave him around 10 or more boxes
so far. Thank you to those members who have painted
them.
Looking forward to seeing everyone again. Have a great
month.

On March 9, Sheila Hughes
attended the 1st year birthday party of
her great grandchild, Reese. Reese is not
Sheila’s only great grandchild; however,
she is the only one who lives in the state
of Nevada. So, Sheila is really enjoying this little
one! Sheila also announced that husband, Mike, and the
new puppy, Lily, have become inseparable! Not hard to
believe!
Exciting news for Rocky Garrett-Teel’s family!
Granddaughter, Sarah, who was born legally blind, and
now through corrective glasses and surgery, has 20/40
vision and can drive a car! Awesome!!
We are pleased to have a new chapter member, Jan
Banks. Please stop by to welcome her at our next
meeting. Welcome to our world, JAN!
Peggy Simpson took a spill resulting in a lot of body
soreness. The good news is that she didn’t
break any bones! We all wish you a very
speedy recovery and going forward please
be more careful Miss Peggy!!!
Gwen Palmer is still not up to par but it isn’t for the
lack of trying. Some days are better than others and we
are hoping for her to bounce back soon. Stay strong dear
friend!
Jan Green is recuperating nicely from her shoulder
surgery. She is in physical therapy and will be so for a
considerable time. Best wishes, Jan – Remain strong and
determined!
Beth Buchwald’s husband, Wayne, continues to
recover but not as quickly as he would like. (I hope his
patience is head and shoulders above mine!)
