Grade school student wins gold in
International Music Fest
South Mansfield Royals do not only excel in academics and values but also in the performing arts.
Just recently, Niño Louwell Baloran of Grade 5 won Gold Award in the Music Competition of Asia Pacific Arts Festival 2019 that took place in Singapore last August 9-12, 2019. Niño competed with participants from 62 countries.
Asia Pacific Arts Festival (APAF) aims to pursue harmony, peace, and global friendship through cultural exchange programs, workshops, and Performing Arts competitions. APAF has been successfully held for the past 6 years with participants from Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, etc. The mission of this festival is to encourage youth participants to nurture and cultivate peace and unity through the understanding of the diversity of cultures, races, languages, faiths, traditions, and customs. Our vision is to ultimately attain peace and unity through mutual understanding of each other through the expression of our love for the Arts.
With this feat, South Mansfield College remains the school of CHOICE in the heart of Muntinlupa!
Curriculum Night Parents from Pre-School will have a wonderful experience on September 06, 2019, 4:30pm-6:30pm, as
they attend a meaningful simulation of classroom learning during the Curriculum Night.
The following are scheduled Curriculum Night for the other levels:
Grade 1-2—September 13
Grade 3-4—September 20
Grade 5-6—September 27
Grade 7-8—October 11
Grade 9-12—October 18
The Curriculum Night is one of the Growth Mindset activities that highlight SMC’s international standards as
well as best practices inside the classroom.
This activity aims to let the parents know how their children learn and interact with their classmates. With the
experience in Khan Academy in Math and Science, Moodle for all subjects, Lexile Courseware in English and
the Growth Mindset, parents become aware of the methods and ways of teaching and the best technology-
driven pedagogy. These are our reasons why the school found an interesting way of bringing parents inside
the school doors. This time not as parents, but as students.
Please support this meaningful and wonderful activity.

Keeping kids safe in school There’s no question that sending the kids off to school for the first time each year is an experience full of mixed emotions. While we can’t be there in person to be sure our children are safe and well cared for all the time, we can empower our children to be conscious of their safety and to express themselves in a way so that their needs are met. As they start off the school year, incorporate these safety tips:
1. Be sure your child knows his and your contact information. He/She should have his/her full name and address, your full name, and the best number to reach you memorized.
2. Be discrete in labeling your child’s clothing, backpack or jackets with his/her name where it is visible. You don’t want a stranger to be able to call out your child by name, so be sure his/her name isn’t anywhere visible on his/her clothing or school bag.
3. Ask your child open ended questions. Ask your child questions about how his/her day went a part of your afterschool routine. If anything concerns you, bring it up with his/her teacher. Teach your child that it’s okay for him/her to talk to you and his/ her teacher about his/her needs or concerns.
4. Be familiar with how your child’s school handles emergencies. Be sure to educate yourself about the policies and procedures regarding school emergencies. Let your child know who is listed on his/her emergency contact form.
5. Pay attention. Pay attention to changes in your child’s eating habits, sleeping habits and personality. If you notice your child seems withdrawn or isn’t sleeping well, inquire as to why. A change in behavior may signal that something is wrong.
