The Breda Amer-ican Legion Auxiliaryheld its regular meetingon Tuesday, August 17,2021, at the Breda PostHall.

Preceding the meeting, a dessert wasserved by Marilyn Vonnahme, MarilynMueggenberg and Jamie Wiskus.

The meeting was called to order byPresident Marsha Stork. Marilyn Von-nahme gave the opening prayer in theabsence of the Chaplain. The Pledge ofAllegiance and Preamble were recited anda moment of silence was observed forthe deceased.

Roll Call was answered by twoofficers with the Secretary being absent.There were 15 members in attendance.

The minutes of the previousmeeting were read by Renee Mueg-genberg, Secretary Pro Tem and wereapproved as read.

The Treasurer’s report was givenby Treasurer, Pat Olberding. She alsogave a report on the July 4th celebration.The reports were placed on file for audit.Bills were presented for postage and theAppreciation supper. Eileen Sander madethe motion to pay all bills and the motioncarried.

An Installation Ceremony for newofficers: Ann Schmitz, Vice President andJennifer Custer, Treasurer, was then

held. Marilyn Mueggenberg was Sgt-At-Arms and Renee Mueggenberg wasInstalling Officer for the ceremony.

President’s report: Marsha andRenee had attended the Past DistrictPresident’s Luncheon in Pocahontas onJune 21st. She thanked Peg Derner,Nancy Pudenz, Renee Mueggenberg andIone Koster for helping with the HonorGuard for Leone Buelt’s funeral. She alsothanked Ann Schmitz, Jen Custer, EileenSander, Pat Olberding and Mary LouHermsen for attending the CarrollCounty ALA workshop.

Standing Committee Reports:Bloodmobile – On June 28 there

were 26 eligible donors with 32 unitscollected. One first time donor and twopeople reached the one gallon milestone.The next bloodmobile will be Monday,August 23.

JR Activities - Junior Camp is beingheld August 15-20, 2021, at the NewtonChristian Conference Center in Newton.August 20th is the JR Convention.

Membership - the year ended with101 paid members.

Poppies - Marsha reported that shehad given a certificate to Callie Kokengefor helping with poppy distribution.

VA & R - Renee stated that she hadsent 3,993 coupons worth $9,987.59since the June meeting.

Communications: Marsha read

‘thank you’ cards from the Wilma Boesand Leone Buelt families, the Breda DayCare and a card from MaryAnn Naber-haus. She also had received a note fromTerri Taylor about the Foster Grand-parents program. Anyone interested cancontact Terri @ 712-292- 5293.

Old Business: Marsha reportedon the July 4 celebration and the donationsgiven this year. She also stated that aWelfare Account had been opened tokeep a separate accounting of Generaland Welfare monies. The grave markersthat were ordered had arrived.

New Business: There will be aMemorial Service at Holy Spirit onAugust 21st at 10:30 a.m. for MaritaBuelt and an Honor Guard is requested.Marsha passed a sign-up sheet foranyone interested in being on the HonorGuard for future funerals. She informedthe membership that the Unit was askedif we wanted to purchase a double-sided,3 x 5 American Legion Auxiliary flag tobe used in conjunction with TheAmerican Legion flag at the ballpark forfuture celebrations. Jennifer Custer madethe motion to purchase the flag and themotion carried. Discussion was raisedon adding members in ‘memory care’ toRule #4 of the Standing Rules and wastabled pending further research.
