We manufacture a wide range of vehicle barriers and pride ourselves on

Our full range of PAS 68/K12-K8 rated Roadblockers hold the ‘Secured By
Design’ licence from ACPO (Association of Chief Police Officers).
This entailed working closely with ACPO for many months and subsequently
we were the first company to have a Roadblocker accredited with the licence.

Heald believe in using not only “In house” testing but also
external physical testing methods when designing
their high security systems. In theory a barrier may be able to stop a
vehicle travelling at 80 kph, but many exterior factors come into play that
can alter the outcome. We believe that the only true way to measure the
strength of a barrier is by physically testing it again and again. That’s
why we believe so strongly in our products. To stay at the forefront of
security design we undertake various tests, both with American and
European trucks at the Transport Research Laboratory in Berkshire.
The M800CR4 was tested against a 7.5 tonne truck travelling at 80kph.
The blocker brought the vehicle to a complete halt with nil penetration and
therefore conformed to the British Standard PAS 68: 2007 (Specification for
Vehicle Security Barriers). The M800CR4 holds a Secured By Design licence.

Using the same blocker as in the previous test, we proved the strength of our system by re-testing it against an American
truck. Travelling at 80 kph the truck was disabled upon impact, rendering the vehicle undrivable. The vehicle did not penetrate past the front face of the Roadblocker, thus conforming to the British Standard PAS 68: 2007. Repeated test ing of our Roadblocker systems with vehic les of vary ing specification enables us to understand the differing pressures and external forces applied during impact and in doing so aids us in our continuous research and development to provide the best possible product for our customers.
Because of the Roadblocker’s design no pre-casting of the pit is necessary and there is no need for re inforcement of the concrete. Th is enables f i t t ing to be completed more ef f ic ient ly and cost ef fect ive ly and under normal c i rcumstances f i t t ing can be completed in one day. Des igned to withstand repeated impact and to s t i l l operate af terwards, the M800CR4 and HCR4M1200RB help mainta in s i te secur i ty a t a l l t imes.
The tests show that our unique des ign of Roadblocker wi l l wi thstand repeated impact and s t i l l operate, mak ing i t a formidable deter rent aga inst potent ia l vehicular threat .

Heald also manufacture a K8 Crash Rated Roadblocker.
This was tested at an independent testing facility
in America and stopped a 6.8 tonne truck with nil
penetration from a speed of 64 kph. We were the first
company worldwide to achieve the new Department of
State crash rating SD-STD-02.01 Revision A. This denotes
that the vehicle did not penetrate past the front face of
the Roadblocker. This was the benchmark for all of our
subsequent blockers, and the success of this led to
us expanding our range further to meet with the ever
increasing demand for such perimeter systems.

Our Crash Tested Automated Bollard is our ‘supreme’ bollard. Providing
extra high security the system was tested in the USA against a 6.8 tonne
vehicle traveling at 64 kph. The vehicle was paralysed within 10 metres of hitting the
bollard. This system is an ideal alternative to the Roadblocker for sites that are more
architecturally sensitive, yet still providing a high security barrier against potential threat.
Lying flush to the road surface when at rest, the bollard raises to its full
extension of 640mm or 800mm and the standard raise time can be accelerated by the
addition of an accumulator for Emergency Fast Operation. Controlled by a central
PLC, the bollard can be operated by security personnel or by individual drivers.
The bollard’s extremely strong and robust construction ensures minimal ongoing
maintenance with a vandal resistant design and is unobtrusive to pedestrians.

Sitework: Various levels of installation service available. The bollard is manufactured in its own self-contained unit, therefore ensuring ease in installation involving minimal effort. Technical guidance is offered for those customers wishing to undertake their own installation.
