I remain grateful for my classmates' friendliness at that very self-conscious age as well as for SHS's educational quality. Looking back, I believe the latter laid the groundwork for my wanting to become an academic. Professionally, a high point was receiving tenure at UMass Boston, a vibrantly diverse public institution. Privately, a low point was the death of my first husband from cancer. But I am very fortunate to have crossed paths with and to have married a friend from graduate school, Dan Cohen.

But when I work for money (and a measure of contentment), I have worked for the AFL-CiO, National Endowment for the Humanities, and PNC Bank. Moved to San Francisco and was in the first group of women to work for PG&E on the Maintenance side of power plants. Left 10 years later as a Journey- Level Instrument Repair person. Lived in S.F. during the 1989 earthquake. Moved to Texas in 1992. Stay at home mom until I started working as a campus Tech for our local school district in 2004. Ran a 10K Mud Run Obstacle Course with my brother-in-law in 2014 - glad I did it, but once was enough.

I am the chairmen of the Jewelers Board of Trade, a non-profit that fosters commerce in the jewelry industry with 2500 members. I am also quite active in Cornell University's College of Agriculture as past president of the alumni association. I am currently chair of the 40th re-union of Scarsdale High School. I am on the board of the Friends of Scarsdale Parks. I also work with the Scarsdale Sustainable Garden at the High School.
