//the conceptWhile formulating ideas for my living room concept, I have learned that my tendency towards

minimal & contemporary design is overpowering. Simple lines and shapes are the consistent

trend with the style, but that does not mean these characteristics cannot be reinvented or

worked on.

I have gathered countless inspirations and trends that I enjoy in interior design & furniture

design. Above the textures and colors, I mostly enjoyed their clean cut, steel crisp lines and

geometric shapes, testing negative spaces and balance of elements. I’m interested in ‘frac-

tal elements’ and irregular cut corners and surfaces. I like to call it “Visual Math”.

My idea is to maintain this minimal contemporary style and bring it into my traditional liv-

ing room setting, complete with a five panel oval bay window and tiered 12 ft ceilings with

crown molding. I will be redesigning the look of the following items.

:: Coffee Table:: Arm Chair:: Couch:: Table:: Pendant Lam:: Desk Lamp:: Entertainment Center:: Bar Stool

This is the current layout of the Living Room as is. The plan is to keep its original traditional shape but utilize the

space more efficiently and place appropriate furniture within it.

Livingroom is large and oddly shaped, and blocked off by many walls as in

many traditional San Franciscan homes. It was built in 1928.

These are initial sketches of how I see the room can be improved upon, as well as potential furniture pieces that

would sit in it. The innovations include a half-wall that would open up and shed light into the hallway, and a block-

ade to create a separate workspace in the livingroom.
