Click File>Open to open “block2”

We are going to learn a shortcut to make holes. Click “Hole Tool” in 3D mode.

Click “Sketch Tool”

Click “Placement” and click the left surface of the block. There are 5 drag handles for center, diameter, offset from ref1, offset from ref2, and depth.

Move offset handles to the top and right edges on the surface.

Change diameter to 10, offset from the top 15, offset from right edge 10. Change depth spec button to “a through all holes” and check.

To create a chamfer, click “Chamfer Tool”

Select one edge on the left surface and select one edge on the right surface while holding down a CTRL key.

Change the chamfer size to 2. You can verify the change by clicking this. Check.

Click “Round Tool” to create a round.

Click the front edge and change the radius to 2. Check.

We are going to configure the model tree. Click Setting>Tree Columns.

Move “Feat #” and “Feat Type” to the right (Displayed) and click “Apply” to see feature number and type. Then, OK.

Click Settings>Tree Filters

You can filter the model tree. For example, unselect “Datum Plane” and click “Apply”. Select “Datum Plane” and click “OK”

You can rename the feature. Choose “Extrude1”, click RMB and click “Rename”. Change the name to “BASE”. Change “Extrude2” to “U_CUT”

16We explore Parent/Child relations. Click (RMB) U_CUT>Info>Reference Viewer.

17It has two parents(Base and Sketch2) and three children.

To modify dimension, select Sketch1>Unhide(RMB).

Double click the sketch curve.

Now you can change the width of 20 to 30. Click “Regenerates Model”

The other way to modify the dimension is; select BASE>Edit

Now you can change dimensions by double clicking the dimensions.

We can unlink the Sketch1 and BASE. Select BASE>Edit Definition. Click Placement in the left bottom and click Unlink.

The name of Sketch1 under BASE was changed to S2D0001. Select Skecth1 and delete. Remember you should delete a feature after unlinking to its child, otherwise you also delete its child.

Turn the datum planes and axes off by clicking these.

Double click the left hole and bottom edge of the block. You see symbolic dimensions of the hole. Using these names, we’ll locate the hole in the center of the surface.
