A WORD FROM PASTOR TIM
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
We’ve had a very good summer here at FPC. I’m thinking
particularly of what it has meant for our youth and their
friends. Our Wednesday night attendance has averaged a
steady 15-18 students. They’ve walked together through
the Gospel of Mark, talked over their questions, listened to
each other, made friends, had fun on the church campus and
beyond, and made a deeper connection with Jesus Christ.
I’m so pleased that Norma Galvan has given a large part of
her summer to our youth. Alanna Regulbuto has been
steady in her longstanding devotion to them, as well. And
I’m grateful to all the contributions parents and interested
adults have made. We’ll see what it all means as out
students continue with God in the coming months and years!
Speaking of youth, we’ve been seeing more of them in
worship and up front leading us in worship! How
refreshing. That’s a win for children, the youth themselves
and for adults! And on top of that we are enjoying the
youthful Talip Peshkepia and wife, Cristal, as Talip fills in
for Lizzy on maternity leave! Hoorah!
Speaking of worship, we’ve all been sitting together under
the teaching of the Lord himself as we continue through the
Sermon on the Mount. Beginning with Jesus’ redefinition of
reality (the Beatitudes), he then spoke to us about identity
(salt and light), authority (he has come to fulfill the
scripture), and now we are into his vision for community
and ministry (the balance of the Sermon). Keep listening
and responding in simple and clear obedience. The Kingdom
will come more and more powerfully to you and through
you as you do.
Now what about the fall season at FPC?
We’ll continue building up our ministry with youth!
We’re beginning a monthly gathering for upper
elementary aged children in early October.
Small groups are soon to resume and pick up weekly
discussion of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount.
We’re continuing broad participation in all aspects of
our worship services.
Our PNC is receiving an increasing number of
applications and is busy sifting through them.
Are you praying about all these things? We’re
nowhere, if not on our knees!
Every blessing to you as the fall arrives,
Pastor Tim

Notes
Your Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC) members include Lillan
Alfaro, Shelly Diaz, Michael Duron, Ian Redford, Eric Ruckman,
Jerry Scott, Eric Stender, Rosa Torres and Karen Trejo. Our
Presbytery Committee on Ministry Liaison is Rev. Sarah McCurdy
from Morningside Presbyterian Church. The PNC has completed
the Ministry Information Form (MIF), which serves as a position,
church and community description for our Pastor Candidates. The
MIF has been approved by our Session and by the Los Ranchos
Presbytery Committee on Ministry. It is now in our
denomination’s Church Leadership Connection system, available
for interested Pastor candidates to review. We have begun
receiving candidate Personal Information Forms (PIF), which
serves as a Pastor’s resume, and begun our search process.
Please continue to pray for our work and that God will lead us to
the person He chooses to lead our congregation as its next
Pastor.

PEACEMAKING The General Assembly has affirmed in “Peacemaking: The
Believers’ Calling” that God’s peace giving in a broken
and insecure world is central to the message of the
gospel. Therefore, people of faith engage in
Peacemaking, not as a peripheral activity but as an
integral part of their Congregational life and mission.
Our Church has signed the “Commitment to
Peacemaking”. We have our Commitment from General
Assembly in the Peppertree Room under glass next to
Our Old Bible in the glass case.
Please take time to have a look and

Events & Updates

FPC Ministry with Elementary
Age Children – Beginning in
October, we will be offering a
monthly special event for our
elementary aged students, third
through fifth grade. The event will
be held the first Friday of the month
from 6-8:30, with the first activity to
be held on October 3. Watch for
more information to follow.
Due to a combination of factors related to diminished financial resources and congregational involvement,
the FPC elders wish to let you know that our Kidz
Konnection program is taking a break for the
academic year of 2014-2015. While we have been
pleased with the increase in quality, effectiveness and satisfaction that both the students and staff
experienced under the direction of Norma Galvan,
the number of students has continued to decrease
due to lack of tutors and helpers. In addition to this,
due to other important commitments, Norma is unable to continue as director for the coming year.
The Pastor and elders fully support her in that. After
prayerful consideration, the session determined that
we should take a break from KK this year in order to
re-evaluate this ministry for the 2015-16 school year. We are so grateful to all who participated in KK
and especially to Norma for excellent KK ministry and
leadership this past year!
