June—August

He crawled out of bed and he got down on his knees He closed his little eyes, folded his little hands And spoke to God like he was talking to a friend And I said son now where'd you learn to pray like that

He said I've been watching you dad, ain't that cool I'm your buckaroo, I wanna be like you And eat all my food and grow as tall as you are We like fixing things and holding mama's hand Yeah we're just alike, hey ain't we dad I wanna do everything you do

So I've been watching you

There have been many changes to our Church Directory since we published a couple of years ago. You can always go online to see the latest address changes, telephone numbers, etc. (www.demopolispresbyterian.com; click on links; click on Instant Church Directory. You will need a password to view this.

(Church members only can call the office for password.)

We are wondering how many of you would like to have a new published edition? It will cost about $5 per copy as before. We will need a sizeable order before we undertake this project. You can also use this chance to update your profile pic-

ture if you wish.

Please email or call the church and let us know what you would like to do.

Well it appears that summer is here. What gave it away? This me-morial day weekend the tempera-tures will be in the low 90s. But

that’s in and around Birmingham so here it will proba-bly be the mid if not high 90s. Another thing that says summer is here is that school is out. That means a lot of things will be happening. People take vacations during the summer, so we will be missing some of you in the next few months. Have a great and re-freshing time and come back safe. Also, please re-member that the expenses of the Church continue through the summer months even when you are not present. That is one reason that giving to the Church usually takes a dive during the summer. Please, just remember to send in your gifts when you will be out of town.

Something else that says summer like nothing else is Vacation Bible School. This year it is early for us----June 11-15. We are going to follow those Scottish sleuths again this summer as they investigate the Kingdom Parables of Christ. VBS is always great fun for kids and adults and most importantly, kids learn so much about God’s love for them. Pray for VBS----ask God to send many children, to provide all we need including personnel, snacks, crafts, and mate-rial. And also ask God to save some children this summer through our Vacation Bible School.

Another thing that says it is summer (at least in re-cent years) in our annual trip to Palmer Home for Children in Columbus, Mississippi. For over a hun-dred years Palmer Home has been meeting the needs of children who, for whatever reason, cannot live at home. They not only provide shelter and food but love and instruction from God’s Word. Please pray for our trip this year, July 9-14. And seriously, prayerfully consider whether God would have you go with us. There are all kinds of things to do to help Palmer Home in its mission of caring for children and it would be very difficult to do that work if not for many churches sending groups to help out. I prom-ise, you will get more out of your involvement with the Palmer Home kids and personnel than you will put in. Think about it and let me know as soon as you can.

Well, summer is here whether we like it or not. I hope you have a great one.

— Tommy
