Factors Considered in Selecting Projects

• WRIA 9 Salmon Habitat Plan Policy MS-1:

40% of funding for recovery efforts in Transition Zone

30% of funding for Rearing Habitats (Middle Green, Lower Green, Duwamish and Marine Nearshore)

30% of funding for Spawning Habitats

• Previous projects move forward for completion

• Portfolio of projects in different phases

• Coordination with other grant funding sources

Typical Funding Sources• Salmon Funding Recovery Board (SRFB)

• Puget Sound Restoration (PSR)

• King Conservation District (KCD)

• Estuary and Salmon Restoration Program (ESRP)

• Puget Sound Nearshore Ecosystem Restoration Project (PSNERP)

• Army Corps of Engineers Ecosystem Restoration Project (ERP)

• Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP)

• Aquatic Lands Enhancement Account (ALEA)

• Conservation Futures Tax Levy (CFT) and Parks Expansion Levy

• Local Project Sponsor Contribution (5-10%)

Salmon Funding Recovery Board (SRFB)

• Funding is a mix of state and federal funds

• Federal portion through the Pacific Coastal Salmon Recovery Fund from NOAA.

• For 2011, $80 million allocated in the federal continuing resolution

• Funding divided between Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho and Nevada

• Washington state anticipating $27.5 million total

Puget Sound Restoration

• State funding identified for Puget Sound restoration

• For 2011, included in Governor’s budget for $15 million

• State Uses this as their own match for the federal portion of SRFB funds

2011 SRFB/PSR Funding

•Anticipated Amounts:

• Salmon Funding Recovery Board: $360,000

• Puget Sound Restoration Funding: $553,581

•Forum Approved Funding:

• KCD – ERP Match: $275,000

• KCD – Monitoring at Olympic Sculpture Park: $100,000

• KCD – 2011 High Priority Projects : $370,000
