PISCICULTURE
INTRODUCTION
The breeding, rearing, and transplantation of fish by artificial means is called pisciculture, in other words, fish farming.
1. Pisciculture is the principal form of aquaculture, while other methods may fall under mariculture
2. It involves raising fish commercially in tanks or enclosures, usually for food.

3. Varieties such as Pearl spot, Rohu, Catla etc., are reared for food .
4.Varieties such as Gold fish, Guppy etc., are reared for ornamental purposes.
5.Important prawn varieties reared are Naran, Kara etc.
