Why in this neighborhood?

The following few slides will answer this question, taking into account that:

∙ T‐Mobile currently serves the surrounding, busy urban area from their existing wireless facility at Roosevelt High School which is due to be removed in the next year.

∙ The proposed replacement facility is needed to provide uninterrupted and improved service to this area, and avoid the negative impacts of a coverage gap for in‐building service if a replacement facility is not installed before the existing facility is removed.

∙ The replacement site must also locate as close as possible to the existing location to best duplicate the existing coverage area as closely as possible so customers within the exiting coverage area continue to receive the same level of reliable service.

∙ Without the replacement facility, the coverage gap that would result from the removal of the existing facility could result in unreliable in‐building service, and the inability of customers living, working, and traveling through the area from connecting to the network or contacting emergency services.

∙ To prevent a coverage gap, the replacement facility is needed so T‐Mobile can continue to provide reliable, state‐of‐the‐art service to the surrounding area that is as good as or better than the service to T‐Mobile's customers in the rest of their network in the Portland metropolitan area. T‐Mobile is committed to providing state‐of‐the‐art service to the Portland area for years to come.

Site Selection, & Design

Site Selection & Alternatives Investigation

The following options were all considered and evaluated during oursite search and candidate selection process:

∙ T‐Mobile considered a rooftop facility at Roosevelt High School or attaching to the athletic light poles. Portland Public Schools declined to accept any new facilities on the school property.

∙ T‐Mobile considered nearby PGE utility poles along N Lombard Street. PGE preferred the proposed pole as the best choice.

TAEC consulted with the Portland General Electric (PGE) representative and T‐Mobile RF Engineer to determine that the proposed utility pole is the bestavailable option in this area.
