Classroom ExpectationsO Prompt-students are on time and ready

to start class when the bell ringsO Prepared-students bring their orchestra

binder, book, instrument, pencil and practice card and are prepared to play their part every day (practice)

O Productive-all students are participating and taking risks in class (not a passive class)

O Polite-kind and considerate of others and their property;

O Patient-helpful; TEAM mentality

Practicing!!!O All students are required to practice 100

minutes for a weekly formative gradeO Advanced orchestra students in concert,

symphonic or chamber already have practice cards-the first one was due Tuesday, Sept. 10th

O Beginner students have received their practice cards this week – First one due on Tuesday, Sept. 24th.

O Parent Signature and total minutes required every Tuesday in class

O 1 day late = 15 points deduction (parent contact)

O 2- 4 school days late = 30 points deduction (parent contact)

O 5 school days or 1 week late = zero (parent contact)

Instrument RepairO If your student’s instrument is in disrepair,

please DO NOT attempt to fix it yourself. Unless you are a trained luthier.

O If it is a rental instrument, please take it to the store where you are renting it from and they should repair it-if you have paid for the insurance, etc.

O If it is an NISD instrument, bring it to school and I will have it repaired.

O If it is your own instrument, bring it to school and I will assess the damage and let you know where and how to fix it.

Private LessonsO If you are interested in private

lessons for your student, please fill out the private lesson form and return it to Mrs. L as soon as possible.

O I will give the form to the respective private teacher and they will be contacting you to set up lessons/payment schedule, etc.

Instrument Usage Fees

Paid to the District (NISD) for instrument maintenance…

$50 for the year to use a school instrument at school only$50 additional for the year to take an instrument home*Make checks to NISD

FeesT-shirt Fee = $15 (Medlin MS orchestra)

Bus/Fieldtrip Fee = $15 (Medlin MS orchestra)Total = $30 (I will collect tonight)Fundraising Fee (if you choose not to participate in fundraising) = $50
