Genre Of My Short Film“Infertile”

After researching different genres I couldn't’t tie down my coursework piece to just

the one as I feel my coursework is quite unique.

However I can see elements of two categories it could be in.

Codes and Conventions My Idea Meet…

• Hand held Camera - encoding realism and ‘truth’• Intercutting / Parallel Editing linking key scenes• Exploration of narrative themes, messages and values• Mediated culture – documentaries select and

construct, thus encoding opinion and subjectivity• Selective editing crucial to constructing meaning• Use of Establishing Shot and Close Up

Documentary

• Strong on visual imagery• Any length.• Minimum of language.• Responses - Shocked, Boredom, Confusion, Laughter

Experimental

For the reasons stated on the previous slide I would put my short film into Documentary/Experimental as it is strong on visuals and contains an informative message that the audience need to be aware of.
