Cleaning Tips• Check under your bed, backs of doors, back of cupboards and
wardrobe.
• Living in self-catered accommodation? Don’t forget the communal areas. Don’t get caught out and be left to do all the cleaning. Before you move out, why not get together with your flatmates and agree a date to clean and tidy the communal areas together?
Leave your room empty, clean and tidy
Car parking will be allowed in the residence car parks, to make it easier to remove your belongings at the end of your stay. Contact your Residence Reception for more information.

Contractual Information
You will need to book a room inspection in advance of your departure, giving at least 48 hours notice.
To book a room inspection, visit or email your Residence Reception between 9.00am and 4.00pm, Monday to Friday.
Report any maintenance faults to your Residence Reception prior to your room inspection.
Ensure that you check your room inventory to remind yourself of the condition when you moved in.
Charges will apply to remove property left behind, for damage that is not classed as wear and tear or for any additional cleaning.

Living in self-catered accommodation? On the day your contract ends, you will need to return your keys/fob to your Residence Reception by 10am.
Living in catered accommodation? You will need to return your keys/fob to your Residence Reception by 10am on the day your contract ends, this includes the Christmas and Easter vacation periods.
Keys/Fobs not returned will incur replacement charges of £23.50 per key.
The University is unable to store or forward your post and parcels, so don’t forget to pass your forwarding address to friends, family, the bank, future employers etc.
Any post received after you have vacated your residence will be returned to sender.

Don’t throw away items that are still serviceable, instead, use moving onThe Moving On project will pass your donated items of good condition to charities. The project also hosts a one-day event in Fresher’s Week when you can collect items for study or furnish your house while supporting charities.
Moving On Collection Points will be made available to accept your donations – contact
your Residence Reception for your nearest collection point. Items you can donate include:
Pots – Pans – Cutlery – Crockery – Stationery – Books

Arrange a room inspection at least 48 hours before your departure
Remove all personal belongings, including; posters/stickers from surfaces (Be careful! - any damage to walls and paintwork will incur a charge)
Remove all rubbish from your room and recycle any cardboard, bottles, cans and paper in the correct bins provided
Take unwanted items in good condition to the Moving On collection point
Remove your clothes from the laundry room
Remove all belongings from your safe/lockable box, if applicable, and leave the safe open
Redirect your post
Clean bedroom and en-suite (if applicable) including; vacuuming carpet, and clean the furniture - click below to view the cleaning guide for students.
Empty, clean, defrost and switch off the mini-fridge in your room, if applicable.
Restore all items of furniture to their original place
Lock windows and doors
Switch off all lights
Remove bicycle/car from site

Self-catered residents, don’t forget to:Remove all food from the fridge, freezer and kitchen cupboards
Clean your communal area - microwave, cooker and hob, grill pans and wire racks, defrost and clean fridges and freezers, remove posters/stickers, remove all rubbish, clean cupboards, clean all surfaces and finally clean the floor.
If you are the last person to leave your flat, switch off all electrical equipment including the communal areas, leave the fridge and freezer doors open and do a final check.
