From the Principal’s Desk
Welcome to Week Three! I hope that everyone had a wonderful weekend and
spoilt the mums, grandmothers and other special people in their lives yesterday.
A big thank you to our P&C members for the efforts put into co-ordinating the
annual Mother’s Day Morning Tea and Gift Stalls. There was a wonderful, warm
atmosphere despite the cold, windy conditions.
We unfortunately suffered a break in sometime prior to Saturday afternoon on
the weekend. 5G was broken into and some technology equipment taken. The
police were prompt with their responses and it has allowed all classes to
commence as normal today. We thank them for their support.
This week our Year 3 and Year 5 students will complete the NAPLAN
assessments. These one off assessments need to remain in the right context.
They are one assessment on one day and certainly do not assess all that occurs in
a school or they do not assess all the wonderful attributes that our children
possess. The most important thing is to encourage all our children to try their
best. We can’t ask for any more than that.
This Friday is the combined Broken Hill / Barrier Cross Country. It will be run at
the Broken Hill Racecourse. We wish all our runners the best!
Have a wonderful week of learning!
Thought for the Week: “Success is the sum of small effort, repeated day and day
out.” - Robert Collier

A number of concerns raised with the school motorists
relating to some children crossing over the pedestrian
crossings and roads without looking first. For the safety of our
children, parent/caregivers are please asked to re-inforce the road
safety rules to your children. Please remind your children that cars
take longer to see and react to your child in a safe manner. We want
to keep our children safe. Children will be reminded in class too.
Many children below the age of 10 years do not have the capability or
judgment to handle many pedestrian situations. Children need to be accompanied and closely supervised by a parent or adult carer to keep them safer.
