Glycosuria

Condition of the urine
Glucose is present in the urine where normally it is
not supposed to be. The kidneys are supposed to
filter all the glucose and return it back to the
bloodstream.
Glycosuria is a result of Diabetes mellitus.
Leads to loss of water into the urine which can
result in dehydration.
Can also result from large
amounts of carbohydrate
ingestion.
Polydipsia
Poly-
prefix meaning many
-dipsia
Suffix meaning thirst
Symptom where person exhibits excessive thirst.
Usually exists in diabetic patients who have failed
to take their anti-diabetic medication.
Psychogenic Polydipsia
Excessive water intake in patients with mental
illness such as schizophrenia. Seizure and
cardiac arrest is a possibility if the amount of
water intake exceeds what the kidneys can
handle.
On a minor level, possible to have a habit of
excessive drinking which can lead to a false
diagnosis of Diabetes.
