At a GlanceMinnesota State (22-4, 18-4) has won the NSIC Conference outright with a home sweep of Sioux Falls and Southwest. The conference tournament will now begin this Wednesday as MSU will be the 1 seed and host Minnesota Crookston. With a win the Mavs would host another opponent Saturday.

MSU 87 Sioux Falls 78The #9 Minnesota State men’s basketball team withstood Sioux Falls’ second-half surge to claim an 87-78 win Friday evening at Taylor Center. Zach Monaghan led all scorers with 23 points, 6 assists and 3 steals. Connor O'Brien added 17 points and 6 rebounds while Gage Wooten posted 9 points and 7 rebounds. As a team, MSU shot 44.4% (28-of-63) from the �eld and brought down a total of 40 rebounds. MSU also connected on 33-of-44 (.750) of its shots from the charity stripe.

MSU 85 Southwest Minnesota State 75Minnesota State claimed the regular season NSIC championship Saturday evening as it defeated the Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs 85-75. With the win, MSU �nished its regular season with a 22-4 record, including an 18-4 conference record. With Winona State’s loss at Augustana, Minnesota State claimed the No. 1 seed in the NSIC Tournament. Jarvis Williams made it a memo-rable senior day as he poured in a team-high 21 points, to go along with 5 assists. Assem Marei added 17 points and seven rebounds, while Zach Monaghan posted 12 points and a game-high eight assists. Connor O'Brien also reached double digits as he tallied 12 points.

MSU 84 Sioux Falls 67The No. 21 Minnesota State women’s basketball team returned to Taylor Center looking to avenge its �rst loss of the season it su�ered at the hands of the University of Sioux Falls as the Mavericks downed the Cougars 84-67 improving to 21-4 on the season and 17-4 in the circuit. Ali Wilkinson paced MSU with 22 points. Wilkinson was one of four Mavericks to net double-digit points, as she was joined by the sophomore tandem of Aubrey Davis and Jamie Bresnahan who �nished with 14 points and 11 points, respectively. Junior Ste�aney Thomas added 13 points in the winning e�ort as well.

MSU 80 Southwest Minnesota State 62Despite a sluggish start, the No. 21 Minnesota State women’s basketball team �nished its 2012-13 campaign with an overall record of 22-4 and 18-4 in the NSIC, with an 80-62 win over Southwest Minnesota State, earning a second place �nish in the league. There were four Mavericks that reached double-�gures, led by Karlee Gengenbacher who �nished with 18 points. Junior Ste�aney Thomas and sophomore Aubrey Davis netted 14 points, while junior Ali Wilkinson �nished with 10 points. Alli Hoefer �nished the game with eight assists.
