How have we been doing?

sherpa.ac.uk/fact/

Studying the APC market

All the books?

No. The policy includes original scholarly research written by, and aimed at, those who are actively engaged with or interested in academic research, rather than a general readership.

How will the extension work?

When? 1 October 2013 - October 2014.

Who? All current grant-holders.

How? Through PubMed Central and Europe PMC within six months of publication.

Uncharted territory: One size fits all?

Small print runs+

High title price =Lack of access to research published in

monograph or book chapter form

Uncharted territory: Price-gouging

We monitor monograph-processing charges and the market

+More publishers introduce an OA option =In time a benchmark of prices will arise

and we will be aware of outliers.

Uncharted territory: Academic freedom?

Fully funded policy +

Working with publishers =Increase in publishers with OA options
