MACMURRAY GAME NOTES AT NORTHWESTERN
SEPT. 29, 2018 | 12 PMREYNOLDS FIELD
THE WEEKEND IN REVIEW
Despite MacMurray’s bye week, the rest of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference was in action on Sat-urday.
St. Scholastica held off Westminster, 23-20, to remain perfect in UMAC play.
Thanks to a late touchdown pass, Minnesota Morris picked up their first win of the season -- a 13-7 mar-gin over Iowa Wesleyan.
Martin Luther racked up 711 yards of total offense in a 63-28 rout of Greenville.
Holding Crown to negative rushing yards, North-western defeated the Storm, 38-18.
THE WEEK AHEAD
In addition to the MacMurray-Northwestern match-up, there are three other UMAC games scheduled for Saturday afternoon. Minnesota Morris has a bye.
Crown (0-4, 0-2) visits Iowa Wesleyan (0-2, 0-4) as both teams look to pickup their first win of the sea-son.
Martin Luther (2-2, 2-0) looks to stay hot as the Knights host St. Scholastica (2-1, 2-0).
Both Greenville (0-4, 0-2) and Westminster (1-1, 1-2) are coming off losses last week. The teams will look to regroup in Fulton.
In the MacMurray game, the Highlanders will try and spoil Northwestern’s homecoming.

LOOKING BACK AT 2017
An early lead was enough for the MacMurray College football team to edge out Northwest-ern, 22-9. The Highlanders racked up 13 TFLs, limiting the visiting Eagles to just 157 yards of total offense.
With three minutes to play in the first, Noah Sandoval kicked a 22-yard field goal for an early lead.
Midway through the second quarter, Nathan Randall found Devonta Preston in the end zone for a 10-yard score. Sandoval’s PAT gave the Highlanders a 10-0 advantage.
An 8-yard run by Chazz Middlebrook inflated the MacMurray lead to 16-0. The PAT failed, but the Eagles did not get on the board in the first half.
A field goal by UNW in the third would not faze Mac, as Middlebrook responded with his second touchdown of the day in the fourth. The 2-point conversion failed.
On the ensuing possession, Northwestern scored with just under six minutes to play. The spark was too little too late for the visitors as Mac held on for the win.
Sophomore Demetrius Curry hauled in six catch-es for 96 yards. Middlebrook led the ground game with 150 yards and two TDs.
Javon Muhammad, London Gulley and Marcus Atkinson all recorded seven tackles. Muhammad added 5.5 TFLs for 27 yards and picked off a pass.
