“PLUS” slot Ampere-meter
“MINUS” slot Ampere-meter
4 1/2 digit precision Ampere-meter
3 1/2 digit precision Ampere-meter
Because the resolution of ELMB and your amperemeter is not fine enough to calibrate with 1 A.
Overview
● Three cards (S/N: 001, 002 and 004) look o.k.
● Card S/N 003 appeared to have 3 bad channels.
● Checks at 1-4 A didn’t show in general good bahaviour
● However I found it quite hard to fine-tune each channel – The values tuned at ”minus” slot are not reproduce when the card is inserted in
”plus” slot.
– Is it valid to calibrate at the return current?
– Ampere-meter borrowed at E-pool as 4 ½ precision appears to be 3 ½ one... This explains a lot if not everything
12/13/2011 4 IBL Off-Detector Working Group Meeting
Card S/N 003 • Three channels are not in the right range (didn’t come done to 500 mV at 1
A) • Red color: optoboard channel when in ”minus” slot (return current) • Black color: optoboard channel when in ”plus” slot • Out of range are 11+/41-, 42+ /12- and 43+ /13- channels

Channel Mapping
S/N 003
N.B. • Optoboard spits each Wiener LV channel into 4 sub-channels, • Optoboard channel naming:
• first digit indicates the Wiener PS channel, • second digit indicates optoboard sub-channel

Card 002. ch31+/21- fine-tuned in “minus” position at 4A. Sealed. X-check in”plus” slot [Compare to slide 27]
– Expected Voltages (V0): 1 A -> 500 mV 2 A -> 1000 mV 3 A -> 1500 mV 4A -> 2000 mV
● RMS is o.k. The structure at 4 A is due to adjusting the current while taking the data (human factor).
● Values tuned at 4 A in “minus” slot are not reproduced: -18 mV @ 4A, -12 mV @ 3A, -7 mV @ 2A and -3mV @ 1A ??? (the slope p1 in (p0 + p1*V) looks similar, but the offset p0 is shifted to lower values)
● The offset is bigger than any uncertainty I can imagine.

Card 002. ch34+/24- fine-tuned in “minus” position at 4A. Sealed. X-check in”plus” slot [Compare to slide 30]
– Expected Voltages (V0): 1 A -> 500 mV 2 A -> 1000 mV 3 A -> 1500 mV 4A -> 2000 mV
● RMS is o.k. The tiny structure at 4 A is due to adjusting the current while taking the data (human factor).
● Values tuned at 4 A in “minus” slot are not reproduced: +7 mV @ 4A, +4 mV @ 3A, +3 mV @ 2A and +1mV @ 1A ??? (the slope p1 in (p0 + p1*V) looks similar, but the offset p0 is shifted to higher values)
● The offset is quite significant but
