Saturday 31st March travel to Lucerne by train (Paris Gare de Lyon RESERVED seat) at 8.11 arr. Genève 11.27 then transfer to non reserved seat on Genève to Lucerne at 12.10 arriving 15.00, staying overnight (Ambassador hotel Lucerne) 31st March and 1st April leaving 2nd April Day 8.We set out early but when booked taxi didn’t arrive we went to a taxi ramp and caught a taxi to the station arriving in plenty of time. Scenic ride on train then arrived at Lucerne. It is as beautiful as I remember. We dumped our luggage and then went exploring up to the old areas, along the old wall climbing high. Then walking around various parts of the town and then finding a place to eat called Glendal 19 for baked potatoes – yummy dressing.Day 9 Today we caught the ferry from Lucerne across Lake Lucerne to catch the cog wheel train up to Mt Rigi. It was very cold and very misty. But as the morning progressed the sun came out and we walked down to the next cog wheel train station stopping for a hot drink along the way. Once down the mountain we went back on the ferry across the Lake again. After getting off the ferry we walked around to the lion monument area and along by the casino area. We decided to have tea again at Glendal 19 where our waitress told us she had worked in Australia for 9 months. Had a lovely meal of veal sausage and potatoes.
